Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long

August 31, 2010

My hubby and I have always loved Drew Barrymore. She is such a wonderful actress and so pretty too. Plus I love the way her movies always make us feel good afterwards. And it’s the same with her latest flick, GOING THE DISTANCE, with her co-star and real life boyfriend Justin Long. Thanks to Azrael and to SM for letting us watch the advanced screening yesterday.

The movie was so awesome and hilarious that my husband and I found ourselves laughing at several scenes and me crying at those dramatic moments. It made us think what if we were to have a long distance relationship? Would we survive it? Frankly, I am not so sure. I’m so used to Peter being around  that I may just die. Anyway, that’s how great this movie is. It was not only funny and entertaining, it will make you feel what the characters were feeling at every single turn of their relationship too. Oh and Christina Applegate played such an awesome sister. So many awkward moments… so effing hilarious! LOL! In short, we had such a great time!

Going the Distance is about Erin’s (Drew Barrymore) witty and frank personality who charms the newly single Garrett (Justin Long). Before long, they find themselves spending every possible moment they have in those six weeks that Erin was spending her internship in New York. It was just supposed to be a summer fling but  it led to so much more. So they tried going the distance. It was hard, it can be messy, it meant sacrificing dreams, it was a roller coaster ride. But in the end, no matter how difficult, love triumphs.  Do watch it! This movie is not just for women who love chick flicks but good for men too. They will surely have a bawl!

Downy Perfume Series - Passion and Attraction

August 26, 2010

Well, well, well, look what I have here!

While in the middle of my shift at 3 in the morning today, my food delivery arrived and our village guard took this chance to give me a package which he probably received in the afternoon the other day while I was sleeping.

It was a beautifully packed gift basket and the moment I peeked at what’s inside, it just made me happy — candles! I love candles! I actually bought some over the weekend and I was planning to buy some more. I hurriedly went inside the house to take a better look. OMG! It’s from Downy! I immediately opened the basket and the sweet floral smell of the candles filled our living room. Together with the candles are two towels too which smelled so heavenly. And I thought, if Downy really smells like this, there would be no need for me to buy perfume. ^_^

True enough, people from Procter & Gamble, the makers of Downy Fabric Conditioner, traveled all the way to France and back to bring us a new line of Downy Fabric Conditioner that will give us women the chance to enjoy the luxurious scent of perfume everyday — Downy’s perfume series, Passion and Attraction by Downy. They have a luxurious floral blend and a hint of Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang and soft Musk. With these scents exciting our senses, we can definitely indulge in the freshness of perfume everyday.

Now, I must participate in their challenges…

CHALLENGE #1: How sensitive is my nose? I should be able to tell the difference between perfume and new Passion by Downy.

I mentioned that there are two towels included in the package, right? They do smell so alike so it would be pretty difficult to tell the difference. But okay, let me try.

After much smelling, I think Towel #1 has been sprinkled with the new Passion by Downy and towel #2 has been sprinkled by perfume.

CHALLENGE #2: How sensitive is my nose? Can I guess what other perfume notes were used in Passion by Downy?

Hmmm… aside from Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang and soft musk, I think Passion by Downy also contains Rose. But because the question pertained to perfume notes (meaning, there should be more than one answer here), then let me include Lavender in my answer too. The hint of Rose was more powerful though than Lavender. ^_^

I hope I got both challenges right! Coz if I do, I get one year’s supply of Downy Passion and Attraction! Oh wow!

Sexy Nomad Weekend Updates

August 25, 2010

While the whole nation was so busy saying their  various opinions about the recent mishap that happened in Manila, I was busy working, sleeping and writing my personal blogs posts on some of my blogs.  Honestly, I had no idea that such a tragedy was happening until Peter told me about it late Monday evening.  Oh well, I won’t add anymore opinion about the matter. It’s been done and I just hope  the people concerned learned a good deal about it so that next time (not that I’m hoping there would be a next time), it can be dealt with successfully. (*If you don’t know what I am talking about, then you must be living under a rock, or like me, killing yourself with tons of workload and other more seemingly important things. LOL.) I won’t even give any clues or keywords as to what I am referring to because it has trended enough on social networking sites making our race look bad once again.

Anyhoo, the point of this post is to just give you my personal updates. So that’s what I’m going to do. ^_^

Last weekend, I again wore one of the garterized, off-the-shoulder, affordable blouses I was selling on my FB super sale catalog.  It’s comfy and it perfectly hid all those unwanted fats in my midesction. Haha! Blame it on the sweets I’ve been eating non-stop lately.

I also bought new books! Now if only I can buy time to read all those books I’ve bought, that would be a  lot more awesome.

I tried using our brand new Wimpex oven and grilled some vegetables and baked some scrambled eggs. They were delish!

I’ve also been busy with casting spells and buying a few things for Halloween. Yes, I am that excited! After all, a few more days and it’s the start of the BER months already. Yipee!

And last but not the least, if I haven’t been resting or reading, I’ve been spending some real quality time with the hubby over the weekend.

How about you? Prior to the incident that had the nation glued to National TV, what have you been up to? ^_^

The Expendables - a Movie Review

August 16, 2010

I rarely watch action flicks. However, from the moment I have seen the trailer for The Expendables, with all my favorite top notch action movie stars that I grew up with (Sylvester Stallone for Rambo, Arnold Schwarzenegger for Commando, Bruce Willis for Die Hard and Jet Li for One), my interest was already piqued. Add to that the fact that Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Steve Austin and Eric Roberts  were also included in the lineup, I said to myself  “Oh my God! This is going to be THE action flick of the century!

And true enough, it was! From start to finish, Expendables gave me the kind of raw, action combats and sequences that I have never seen before. Okay, there were times it felt like I was watching 300 with all those blood being spilt but without feeling like the scenes were adulterated with computer graphics.

Every scene felt pure and genuine, the kind of scenes that are truly for real men. Like my husband Peter, and our friend Brian said “Ito ang pelikula para sa mga tunany na lalake.” (”This is the movie for real men.”) Even in Mickey Rourke’s crying scene, it really captured the essence of what being a real man is all about.

Sylvester Stallone really did an awesome job directing and producing this movie. I particularly loved that scene when the fire reflected in his eyes. It was truly a moment that captured the heart of the film — pure burning passion for action.

I think what captured a lot of people’s attention (and women’s hearts like mine) to this movie is its old-fashioned style. Remember, we Filipinos grew up with that kind of “bakbakan and barilan” (fight and gun scenes) without much computer graphics added to it. It was pure testosterone and adrenaline-filled sequences which showcased an ensemble cast so hard to beat. I read a comment somewhere that the only actor missing in this film was Chuck Norris. LOL!

It is no wonder then that The Expendables ruled the top  this weekend in US and Canada, earning a whopping $35 million for Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.

Bravo Syslvester Stallone! You have truly given what the audience needs in a real action flick — guns, macho men and things blowing up. Till your next amazing movie, I hope!

Here’s the trailer for The Expendables if you haven’t seen it yet:

Shopping at Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh

June 28, 2010

After we rested for a few minutes in our hostel, we headed out and looked for a place to eat.

We went inside the first decent looking restaurant we saw and asked for a menu. We were famished! I laughed when I saw one of their dishes named Peter breakfast. Haha!

Yum yum!

Scrambled Vegetables and Eggs

June 21, 2010

One egg a day can prevent breast cancer in both men and women by 24%. This is why I try to have one egg everyday. The manner of cooking doesn’t matter. It could be sunny side up, scrambled, poached or whatever. As long as we eat one egg a day, we’re helping ourselves get rid of breast cancer by 24%. So today, for brunch, I made scrambled eggs with vegetables.

Sexy Nomad’s 4th Birthday Gift

May 14, 2010

Howdy! Sexy Nomad is now 4 years old! As such, she has thought about transfering to another home. So from now on, all new PERSONAL posts shall be published at

sexynomad.blogspot.com

I will still retain this blog though for non-personal travels and stuff.

When you do visit my new blog (and a couple of other blogs on my blog roll), you might see some old posts there on the front page. This is because I am slowly transfering all my posts (starting from the most interesting and most viewed) from here to my new home, one by one. Yeah, it’s such a massive task! Just thinking about it is making my heart beat so fast. I guess coz I find it exciting… Teehee. It would be nice to go back to my old posts and see how much I’ve grown, from an emotional wreck I was 4 years ago, to this happier, more mature girl that I am now. ^_^

So anyway, I just want to let you know. And if you have a better idea on how I can do this more efficiently, let me know. I think I need all the help I can get, seeing that I almost never sleep these days and I’m always bombarded with work. (Buti na lang nag-eenjoy ako.) ^_^

Ciao folks! And see you at the other side.
