My 2-year contract with Smart Gold is about to expire and I’ve been thinking of downgrading my plan since I no longer use my phone for text messaging and calls as much as I used to before (like those years I got plan Php3,000-5,000). But then if I do that, it means that the free phone I’ll get won’t be as nice as my previous phones. So to solve this dilemma, I stuck to my plan of downgrading my subscription but I also got a new phone separate from my plan and I chose Netphone 701 by Smart!!! Weee!!!
My new Smart Netphone 701 is still in the box. I haven’t had the time to open and tinker with it yet but I am excited!
Peter and I inside the Ruins, Talisay, Negros Occidental
When going on cheap holidays abroad, I would surmise that it’s practically the same in essence when going on cheap holidays here in the Philippines. When we went to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, we made sure that we got the best of deals, both online and offline and that we experienced the best value our money can offer.
Locally, when Peter and I go on vacations, we make sure that we go on cheap holidays too. What does this mean? We make certain that our hard-earned money gets well spent for that particular vacation by maximizing our budget as much as possible. We do this by only paying for things that are necessary without sacrificing fun, adventure and excitement. Let me give you some examples:
1. We travel light to avoid excess baggage fees.
2. We eat at home before going to the airport to avoid buying airport or airplane food that are priced expensively.
3. When going on a road trip, we always go with at least one friend we can share expenses for gas, food and room with. Just three weekends ago, we went to La Union and managed to only spend less than Php3,000 for me and my hubby. This already included full tank of gas for the car, room rent and scrumptious meals at Halu-Halo de Iloko and Isdaan in Tarlac.

The Ruins, Bacolod
My husband and I just got back from Bacolod. It’s our 2nd time to go there. The first was in 2006 when we went to Inampulugan Island in Guimaras and stayed in Costa Aguada Resort. We basically just passed by Bacolod and went straight to the boat station from the airport. This time around though, we explored some of the must-see places on foot and via jeepney and tricycle rides.
I don’t have much time right now to give you all the details. Suffice it to say that there were just three things we didn’t like about this whole Bacolod trip:
