The Importance of Self-Help

Thank God for the long weekend. As stormy as it was, it allowed me some time to stop, think, look back, see what I have been doing wrong and make things right. It was a long and difficult process. As much as I’d like to believe that I am invincible to pain and suffering, my humanity sets in and when things get rough, the tough sometimes does not get going.The tough can crumble down to pieces and dwell on things that are not right.

However, somewhere deep within, I managed to find a small light in this dark tunnel I call our present situation and from there, I crawled my way back up. It’s like trying to make love out of nothing. I was feeling pretty fearful and hopeless but somehow, I was able to get out of my own rut.

If you are in a similar situation, let me share with you the things that helped get me going. Perhaps, the thoughts I shared in these posts will help you out as well:

Become an Inverse Paranoid - I rarely find the time to read nowadays. But I guess, when you’re down at the bottom of the pits, there’s no other way to go but up. During times of severe distress, panic, fear or depression, I turn to my slef-help tools. One of which is this book about Success Principles by Jack Canfield that I read one chapter at a time. I’m on Chapter 6 now and here, I was reminded how to become an inverse paranoid. It’s a very interesting concept, one that should be adapted by naturally paranoid individuals like myself.

The Power of Meditation - I’ve always known that meditation helps calm me down. But I always fail to make it a daily habit. What happened to me today should be a potent proof that meditation is really necessary if I want to have a more balanced and fruitful life. Having a hectic lifestyle is no excuse not to find time to pray and meditate. Here, you’ll find out why. 

Losing Weight with Fat Burning Soup - Isn’t it so cliche that when one is sad, the more that person turns to food as a form of instant albeit temporary solution to depression? I was also thinking that perhaps my recent diet of carbs and sweets were contributing to my unhealthy emotional state as well. Call me guilty but I am thankful to have the willpower to draw the line and start going back to healthy eating again.  This fat burning soup was recommended by a site and it says that it can help a person lose fat fast! What’s more, this soup is made up of vegetables which I love! Take a look and see if you can have this kind of fat burning diet too.

My Own Version of Boho Chic Fashion - As part of my self-help process, I started mixing amd matching some of my clothes  again.  I’m usually just wearing tattered clothes when I’m at home and most times, I’m simply naked or semi-naked especially when the weather is hot. This is just something I put together last weekend to start feeling good about myself again.

 And then I sang and just watched movies the rest of the long weekend. It was a cathartic process and for the most part, it helped that my husband was there with me all throughout this self-help journey.
