Thinking About Laser Stretch Mark Removal

August 23, 2011

I have just started trying our laser procedures a month ago just like the underarm hair removal I did in July and earlier this month. The next question is if I should try other laser procedure? Since I like wearing swimsuits and bikinis when I’m at the beach, plus the fact that I am not getting any younger, and sometimes my diet would tend to yo-yo depending on my current eating habits and moods, stretch marks aren’t far behind. In fact, I can already see some on my upper thigh. It’s not yet as evident but as early as today, I seem to be considering having some form of laser stretch mark removal. I wonder if it’s safe and if it really does the job?

From what I have gathered online, stretch marks is a skin condition that affects not just people with weight issues, but most particularly women who are pregrant, those who are into body building, and teens who experience sudden growth spurt. The reason is because the skin gets stretched under these circumstances.

However, just because we have this kind of skin condition does not mean that we have to immediately resort to laser stretch mark removal. We have to consider the following:

  1. Do we have the budget for it? It can get pretty expensive since it would require multiple sessions just like with my underarm hair removal where I need 6 sessions to complete the procedure. I’ve only been just to two sessions no wonder there’s still hair growing in my armpits.
  2. Be careful with choosing the surgeon. Laser stretch mark removal is becoming quiote popular so more and more surgeons are sprouting claiming to know how to do the procedure.
  3. Is it really effective? Research says that laser treatment to stretch marks can only be effective when the stretch mark is not yet so severe or if it’s still in the early stages.
On the other hand, I’ve been reading some positive information online saying that laser stretch mark removal is pretty safe; it’s painless; results are permanent with no side effects; and no need for us to take medications before, during or after.

I think the best way to decide is to read as many reviews as we can about laser stretch mark removal, watch some youtube videos if there are any, ask for recommendations if you know anyone who has undergone such treatment and just go for it once we’re sure.

For now, I’ll try to maintain a steady weight first. After all, prevention is still the best cure for any condition. ^_^
