Dear Diary… (travel, fashion, food & biz updates)

July 30, 2011

The blogosphere has been buzzing with DTI issues at the moment. I don’t actively participate coz God knows I hate reading the fine print. But I do read the reactions of fellow bloggers whenever I have the time and I can understand where they are coming from. Nevertheless, I’m no lawyer, I’m not that assertive either, plus I don’t even hold contests on my blog, sponsored or otherwise… (I was about to do that because I have a ton of unused stuff at home but this hot issue with the DTI is just making this risky at the moment) so just to be on the safe side of things, I don’t think I’d be doing any promos… for now. This is also probably a sign for me to get the necessary business permits should I really want to pursue my online apparel biz. For now, it’s just something I do when I have the time. I don’t even earn that much from it. It’s a good thing though that I was already able to secure my business name with DTI last year (SEXY NOMAD ENTERPRISES) and I’m scheduled to attend their free business-related seminars this coming August. Until then, I will just continue to enjoy blogging about the things I love and continue sharing a piece of my weird world to my silent readers (You are out there, aren’t you? If not, then this blog is no different from my personal diary which is what it really is anyway).

So moving on, now that I don’t promote my Sexy Nomad Apparel that much (until I get my barangay and mayor’s permit maybe), I get to wear the clothes I was trying to sell. It actually started out  when I got in contact with someone who sold me clothes at factory prices that I began shopping in bulk. Those that didn’t fit me well, I shared with my online friends so they can save money too. I had high hopes for this little venture but because the stocks don’t come regularly, the biz, so to speak, is not regular too. It comes and goes. So now I’m left with all these beautiful clothes, which I wear whenever I have the chance like that time I went to see Brownman Revival and that time I got scolded by my fashionable cousin for wearing matching colors.

I also try my best as of late to make time for the crafts I promised to make time for at the beginning of this year. It’s always been my plan to include these things in my online biz, hence my business name Sexy Nomad Enterprises. Just recently, I was so happy to make 4 beaded necklaces, my favorite of which is this shell necklace with my raw materials all coming from Boracay. I might join another seminar soon, one that teaches more complicated designs. I’m already quite an expert on how to do simple designs for accessories and I’d like to learn more.

I also promised  to discipline myself when it comes to writing about my travels. I have a ton of unpublished experiences and it makes me happy to share them with you as well. In case you missed the latest one, I just recently blogged about Naked Island in Siargao. I shared four videos of the island including underwater shots too. Do check them out.

Naked Island a small yet beautifuland serene piece of island off the coast of General Luna. It’s best to go there during low tide so as to experience the island in its full glory. I was boasting about this trip to my cousin who in turn was proudly sharing one of her algarve holidays in Portugal. She’s been to a lot of beach holidays all around the world, and I am drooling at all her adventures. Maybe someday… I will be able to go to those exotic beach destinations too.

In the meantime, I should take care that I not get too fat or too unhealthy. We try… my husband and I really do. God knows we’ve been eating healthier home-cooked meals for a long while now but there are still moments when we can’t help but give in to our cravings like that time we ate a ton of Filipino food at Cafe Juanita, and this bowl of vanilla ice cream with everything on top that I had this afternoon.

Basically, for now, I’ll just keep on blogging. Sharing my experiences always makes me feel good about my life, whether they be as simple as my travels, my own sense of fashion, food I eat, etc.  As long as blogging doesn’t stifle my thoughts, views and my freedom, I guess there’s really nothing to stop me from doing what I do. ^_^
