Dear Diary… (travel, fashion, food & biz updates)

July 30, 2011

The blogosphere has been buzzing with DTI issues at the moment. I don’t actively participate coz God knows I hate reading the fine print. But I do read the reactions of fellow bloggers whenever I have the time and I can understand where they are coming from. Nevertheless, I’m no lawyer, I’m not that assertive either, plus I don’t even hold contests on my blog, sponsored or otherwise… (I was about to do that because I have a ton of unused stuff at home but this hot issue with the DTI is just making this risky at the moment) so just to be on the safe side of things, I don’t think I’d be doing any promos… for now. This is also probably a sign for me to get the necessary business permits should I really want to pursue my online apparel biz. For now, it’s just something I do when I have the time. I don’t even earn that much from it. It’s a good thing though that I was already able to secure my business name with DTI last year (SEXY NOMAD ENTERPRISES) and I’m scheduled to attend their free business-related seminars this coming August. Until then, I will just continue to enjoy blogging about the things I love and continue sharing a piece of my weird world to my silent readers (You are out there, aren’t you? If not, then this blog is no different from my personal diary which is what it really is anyway).

Life is a Beach: Thoughts on Travel and Life Overseas

July 28, 2011

My cousin, who just arrived from the Middle East, is staying with us for a few weeks while she buys a house somewhere near Manila. I’m so glad to see her and bond with her. She is one of my closest cousins, the one and only “elderly sister” I could ever ask for. Yet, a part of me always feels challenged every time we’d update each other about our respective lives.

You see my cousin grew up from a poor family. She didn’t even finish college yet here she is, all dressed up in expensive and branded clothes (I’m not kidding, she was wearing a pair of Php20,000 Ferragamo shoes which she said she bought on sale… it was originally priced at Php45,000… *faints*), with tons of money to spend, and a lot of learning experiences to share. I am proud of her and I’m really happy for her. She was telling me all about the successes she had in her overseas job, the amount of money she made, and the exotic places she’s been to. In fact, she just recently had one of her gran canaria holidays and she was telling me how perfect that destination is for people like me who love to travel. She was urging me to try my luck abroad and she’s sure that with my skills, I’ll reach certain career heights than she never could. The thing is,  I am quite content with my life here but somehow, her incessant sharing of views and opinion, that I shouldn’t be wasting my time, energy and talents here in the Philippines, can be too much to handle sometimes. It makes me feel discontent when I have been content for a long while now. Her views make me feel greedy and sad but I know I must keep my cool and just respect her views. After all, deep down, I know she meant well. She always has.

Well, anyway, just like her gran canary holiday, I told her about one of our recent trips which I really liked — our trip to Siargao. For me and my husband, this little piece of island off the coast of Surigao del Norte has everything I’ve always wanted in an island destination…

It has several islets/islands covered in white sand and surrounded with crystal clear waters (Guyam, Naked, Dako, La Janosa, and Mamon islands);

Missing Brownman Revival & Party Nights

July 23, 2011

I miss Brownman Revival.

I miss going out on dates with Peter.

I miss dancing… with friends.

I miss getting tipsy…. or maybe even drunk.

I think the last time I got so high with happiness was back in February, during my birthday. Of course I celebrated it with my most favorite reggae band, Brownman Revival.

We used to attend their gigs all the time. That was when we were still living in Quezon City and when Xaymaca was still the reggae place to be on Friday nights. Unfortunately, Xaymaca closed down and all that’s left of the reggae scene is 70’s Bistro located along Anonas Blvd. in Quezon City. Brownman Revival usually plays there every Thursday from 10 pm to 2 am.

Sexy Nomad Apparel and Eurotel North Edsa

July 21, 2011

I admit, it’s been a while since I actually did some selling online. I miss buying tons of clothes and reselling them online at VERY affordable prices. I just didn’t have the time to look for new clothes suppliers and I know that my own supplier will get in contact with me soon. I was just waiting for the right time. I was right!

Suffice it to say that my free time, as of late, has been devoted to shopping, more shopping and some selling. I’m excited to wear some of the items I actually bought for myself but as fate would have it, work at home has been piling up and I got no time to attend events, parties and such.

But there was this one evening last weekend when I made time for Harry Potter. Since the tickets we got were from IMAX in SM North Edsa, we also used that time to stay in Eurotel at North Edsa as well.  I got a free voucher for twelve hours courtesy of Ivan from Eurotel in exchange for some photos I took in Eurotel Baguio. That way, we wouldn’t have to go all the way back to Alabang at 3 in the morning. Instead, we could just enjoy the rest of our time in Eurotel. Perfect!

Siargao Cheap Accommodation: Patrick’s on the Beach

July 16, 2011

When Peter and I had our 4D/3N stay in Siargao, we were so happy to have been accommodated by Patrick’s on the Beach, located in General Luna, where you can see Guyam and Dako island just across  the far-off distance. The resort itself is very lush, with lots of coconut trees and plants. Most of their cottages are located at the beach front with amenities that will make your stay vey comfortable (cable TV, air conditioning, ref, wi-fi, hot & cold shower, king and queen beds, etc.) The water is pristine, ideal for snorkeling, swimming, diving, swimming, kayaking and a lot more.

I’ve heard of this resort back in 2005 and I have always wanted to stay there. I think it’s the perfect location for tourists, honeymooners, surfers and families because not only are their rates affordable, but they also offer a variety of  tour packages to make sure that you get the most of what Siargao has to offer. Check out my complete post about Patrick’s on the Beach. For inquiries, you may contact them thru email info@patrickonthebeach.com or phone: (+63) 9184816483 / (+63) 9204024356
