Dreaming of Caribbean Holidays

April 30, 2011

I used to think of the Caribbean as one country like the Philippines or Mexico. It’s not until I started hearing about wonderful Caribbean holidays with Florida, Jamaica, Barbados and Grenada in the mix that I started wondering what the Caribbean really is. So I began researching about it and found that the Caribbean is actually a region which consists of the Caribbean sea and thousands of islands and islets, 7,000 in fact, more or less like the Philippines with various reefs and cays.

For a better picture, here’s a map of the Caribbean:

Island Holiday Getaway

April 26, 2011

Living on an island for a while, I get to meet dfferent kinds of people, who, like me, have been to the many beautiful parts of my country, but unlike me, who have travelled almost all around the world. They tell me stories about their travels and we get to compare notes, tips and tricks on where to get the best travel deals and how to make sure that that we get the most out of our island experiences.

SMART LTE: My Smart Evolution Experience

April 23, 2011

I gave you a preview before of what Smart LTE  or Smart Evolution is all about. I also shared with you how happy I am that SMART has asked me to be one of the first to use its prototype LTE USB dongle from HUAWEI. They are pre-launching this 4G technology in Boracay where I am currently doing my soul searching. Since I am mostly online during my regular waking hours, plus I’ve been a loyal customer of Smart since 1999 I figured, it would really be a great honor to be the first of its users.

A little background info here:

4G is an advertising/marketing term used by companies who promote services using technologies better than 3G. See Wikipedia for more technical info.

Right now,  SMART  3G towers are easily upgraded to accommodate LTE (long term evolution) bringing 50Mbps of internet speed, and soon, LTE Advanced to bring 100Mbps  of internet speed. 4G enabled phones will be released to access this kind of super data network. But for now, I have the dongle (which also runs on Snow Leopard) to enjoy and make the most out of.

Chris N Chloe, F.A.S.H., Juice, Epic: Boracay Nights

April 21, 2011

This is the second time that a friend came over here in Boracay during my one month stay which meant that I had another fantastic reason to really go out and have fun especially at night. You see, after my blogger friends Joriben and Ohmski left, I was pretty much just staying inside my room after dinner. There were also times that I’d just walk by the beach to burn off some calories especially after having dinner buffet at Bamboo, or Sunset Bar or La Carmela de Boracay.

Suffice it to say that I was really glad that Noelle spent a weekend here in Boracay. I met Chris N Chloe of Mellow 94.7 and I had so much fun!

SMART Evolution First Live LTE Network

April 16, 2011

As you know, I’m still here in Boracay, on my 23rd day now. Holy Week is just around the corner and if there’s one thing that I am looking forward to the next few days, it’s SMART’s launch of their first live LTE network. I’ll be one of the first to try it together with blogger Jayvee and radio DJ Andi9! So excited!  LTE stands for Long Term Evolution which is the latest standard in the mobile network technology. As such, it delivers mobile broadband speeds of up to 50Mbps and even up to 100Mbps  in the future. Wooohooo! I can’t wait!

With SMART Evolution, people can:

1)    Download movies in minutes instead of hours

2)    Download songs in seconds instead of minutes

3)    Watch high definition videos on Youtube with no buffering

I really am looking forward to SMART Evolution. It’s about time we Filipinos experience this kind of internet speed!
