Downy Unveils Luxury Line of Fabric Conditioners in Scents to Remember

August 31, 2010

With event host, Christine Jacob, and fellow bloggers at the Downy gala launch at Manila Peninsula

Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) Downy has launched their new line of fabric conditioners which will give women a new and luxurious experience when it comes to scents — Passion and Attraction by Downy in their Downy Perfume Series. The gala launch was held yesterday at the Manila Peninsula.

These two new Downy fabric conditioners, Passion and Attraction, contain a one-of-a-kind blend of perfume oils with special activated technology which helps give women a long-lasting perfume-like scent that they can wear every single day. These special scents were developed by Downy’s perfumer, Hector Esquinca, the leader of the Asia Perfume Development Program of P&G. Esquinca is an expert in his field as he has more than 20 years of experience in developing scents and brings his training from the top perfume centers of the world.

Christine Jacob, former Filipina swimmer, actress, T.V. host, and newscaster hosted the gala launch

According to Esquinca, the scent of Passion and Attraction by Downy was inspired by French perfumery, specifically, French pastries, flowers and fruits for Passion and gardens of Grasse, France (the perfume capital of the world) for Attraction.

 apples and vanilla

The scent of of Passion by Downy is described as vibrant and sweet. “We have blooming apple blossom from Southern France which blend with pear stripes immersed into a rich vanilla scent, ending in a  touch of icy raspberry enveloped in warm cedar wood.”

Passion by Downy has a delectable, fruity fragrance with apple blossom, freesia and vanilla as its top and middle notes, and fresh mulberry and cedawood as its bottom notes.

Meanwhile, Attraction by Downy, which was created by fellow P&G Senior Scientist and Perfumer Shingo Ishii, is a fresh but very alluring floral fragrance.

 rose and ylang-ylang

“It’s a celebration of nature as we have this bouquet of different flower notes like jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose, iris and it trails off into soft musk and sensual wood scents for that air of mystery.” Shingo said.

Attraction by Downy contains a blend of floral scents like Jasmine, Rose and Ylang-Ylang for its top and middle notes, which is mixed with soft musk, tube rose and wood fragrances for its bottom notes to give the scent a lingering hint of the Oriental.

As their guests, we were able to learn more about the fragrance of Passion and Attraction by Downy as we walked through the Downy Scent Museum, where scent curators described the meaning of the different scent notes included in the two fabric conditioners.

Did you know that aside from having an extraordinary blend of perfume oils, Downy’s Perfume Series also has an advanced, touch-activated Perfume Microcapsule (PMC) technology, which allows it to give clothes a long-lasting fragrance? These perfume oils are then placed inside microcapsules within the Downy formula, which are deposited on the fabric during rinse stage. When you rub and touch these capsules, they will slowly release more fragrance into the air in order for women not only get a subtle whiff of scent as they put on their clothes, but will get fresh bursts of fragrance all day too.

“As the leader in the fabric conditioner category, Downy is always looking for new innovations and fresh experiences to offer our consumers. Passion and Attraction by Downy gives women who loves fragrances the chance to indulge in perfume everyday. It has all-new scents especially developed by a top perfumer and with unique technology that makes sure the fragrance lasts all day,” said Downy Brand Manager Grace Chua.

By bringing together the craft of French perfumery and the science of advanced fabric conditioner technology in the new Passion and Attraction by Downy, P&G has truly created two new Scents to Remember.

Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long

My hubby and I have always loved Drew Barrymore. She is such a wonderful actress and so pretty too. Plus I love the way her movies always make us feel good afterwards. And it’s the same with her latest flick, GOING THE DISTANCE, with her co-star and real life boyfriend Justin Long. Thanks to Azrael and to SM for letting us watch the advanced screening yesterday.

The movie was so awesome and hilarious that my husband and I found ourselves laughing at several scenes and me crying at those dramatic moments. It made us think what if we were to have a long distance relationship? Would we survive it? Frankly, I am not so sure. I’m so used to Peter being around  that I may just die. Anyway, that’s how great this movie is. It was not only funny and entertaining, it will make you feel what the characters were feeling at every single turn of their relationship too. Oh and Christina Applegate played such an awesome sister. So many awkward moments… so effing hilarious! LOL! In short, we had such a great time!

Going the Distance is about Erin’s (Drew Barrymore) witty and frank personality who charms the newly single Garrett (Justin Long). Before long, they find themselves spending every possible moment they have in those six weeks that Erin was spending her internship in New York. It was just supposed to be a summer fling but  it led to so much more. So they tried going the distance. It was hard, it can be messy, it meant sacrificing dreams, it was a roller coaster ride. But in the end, no matter how difficult, love triumphs.  Do watch it! This movie is not just for women who love chick flicks but good for men too. They will surely have a bawl!

Downy Perfume Series - Passion and Attraction

August 26, 2010

Well, well, well, look what I have here!

While in the middle of my shift at 3 in the morning today, my food delivery arrived and our village guard took this chance to give me a package which he probably received in the afternoon the other day while I was sleeping.

It was a beautifully packed gift basket and the moment I peeked at what’s inside, it just made me happy — candles! I love candles! I actually bought some over the weekend and I was planning to buy some more. I hurriedly went inside the house to take a better look. OMG! It’s from Downy! I immediately opened the basket and the sweet floral smell of the candles filled our living room. Together with the candles are two towels too which smelled so heavenly. And I thought, if Downy really smells like this, there would be no need for me to buy perfume. ^_^

True enough, people from Procter & Gamble, the makers of Downy Fabric Conditioner, traveled all the way to France and back to bring us a new line of Downy Fabric Conditioner that will give us women the chance to enjoy the luxurious scent of perfume everyday — Downy’s perfume series, Passion and Attraction by Downy. They have a luxurious floral blend and a hint of Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang and soft Musk. With these scents exciting our senses, we can definitely indulge in the freshness of perfume everyday.

Now, I must participate in their challenges…

CHALLENGE #1: How sensitive is my nose? I should be able to tell the difference between perfume and new Passion by Downy.

I mentioned that there are two towels included in the package, right? They do smell so alike so it would be pretty difficult to tell the difference. But okay, let me try.

After much smelling, I think Towel #1 has been sprinkled with the new Passion by Downy and towel #2 has been sprinkled by perfume.

CHALLENGE #2: How sensitive is my nose? Can I guess what other perfume notes were used in Passion by Downy?

Hmmm… aside from Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang and soft musk, I think Passion by Downy also contains Rose. But because the question pertained to perfume notes (meaning, there should be more than one answer here), then let me include Lavender in my answer too. The hint of Rose was more powerful though than Lavender. ^_^

I hope I got both challenges right! Coz if I do, I get one year’s supply of Downy Passion and Attraction! Oh wow!
