Pre-Christmas 2009 Musings

December 18, 2009

Personal Space

Ever since I retired from government service and found my bliss working from home, I started staying in around the Yuletide season. What do I mean by this? I mean, if before I tried to attend as many parties or get-togethers as I can, the exact opposite happened and it  is more so this year. Right after my travels (Cebu-CDO-Singapore-Cagbalete-Malapascua <which I haven’t even blogged about yet>), I just felt like I don’t want to  go out of the house for a long, long time…even if it involves making some more money. I said no to VTRs, FGDs,  final castings, I didn’t go to events and parties, I just wanted to enjoy my time at home. As for my Vita Plus biz, I am glad I can do it online and via text and I always have higher ups and couriers who do the deliveries for me. But anyway, I feel kind of weird about it every now and then especially when I don’t even feel remorseful or guilty about not going to those  happenings.  Maybe, it’s just a matter of accepting my preferences and not judging myself. I still don’t know why I am this way but I am trying to. Perhaps, I just needed a break from all the socializing, my body craved sleep and rest (there was a time this year when I haven’t been sleeping at all coz I was saying yes to every opportunity!), and I also thought, what’s the point of having earned all that money if I can’t even say no and buy some alone time for myself?! Right? Right!

So anyways, I’m glad Peter is always supportive of each and every little thing I want and don’t want to do. He’s really such an angel even if he rarely goes home these days because of work. And even if we fight sometimes, I think I still am lucky to be living the life I’ve always wanted. So yeah.. I am pretty much alone most of the time but I don’t feel lonesome.  Go figure.

To Do Christmas or Not

Anyway, around a week or so ago, I started putting Christmas decors around the house. I didn’t feel like it at first. I’d rather have Halloween forever but that’s just me. Christmas is just top 4 now on my fave season  list (1-Halloween, 2-Summer, 3-Valentine’s). I also thought I wouldn’t have the time to put up the decors. Moreover, just thinking about putting up all the decors by myself at that time made me all the more lazy and tired. I figured, the house looks festive enough. It’s not Christmassy, yes.. but it’s festive enough I guess. Look at the photo below… Don’t you think?

The house still had a bit of a Halloweeny mood before I put up the Christmas decors…

Finally, when I did it, it took me 8 straight hours to finish almost everything. I was so into it, I didn’t even eat. I just had Vita Plus and some fruits. I had to continue the next day coz I needed brand new Christmas lights. It was the Christmas tree that I had the most difficulty with. It was 7 feet tall and it was always our helper before who put it up. But since I chose not to have a helper at home (due to numerous stress it caused me I won’t detail them here anymore), I willed myself to put it up. And it has never looked better! Wow, I did it! I really did it!

I’m still glad I did it. The house did look a lot more festive and happy…

My Christmas Wish List

I have a very simple wish list this year because I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to celebrate Christmas (partly because I am hormonal this month and this is usually that time of the year that some of my past demons haunt me). Aside from my previous blog post on wish list, the things on my  orignal list involve stuff that are consistent with my current lifestyle. Here they are:

1. A new cellphone - check! And I’m happy I even got for free the one that I  totally love and adore! I super love Nokia E63! Thank you Smart!!! ^_^

2. A new planner - check! I am also lucky to be getting for free something that I may actually use for the entire year!

3. A new umbrella and chair set for our balcony - check!

Ever since Ondoy ravaged Luzon, I’ve been pretty guilty about feeling bad for having lost my precious beach umbrella. I know it’s nothing compared to thousands of lives and properties lost, but this umbrella has brought some real essence to our house. We love going to various beaches so much that this umbrella set embodied all that. Then I didn’t want to buy and spend some money for something that is obviously so vain when in fact a lot of people are suffering. But this month, Peter indulged me and bought us a brand new set of beach umbrella with matching chair and table set to replace the old, ravaged one. I don’t know if you believe me but I felt so complete when I finally saw it set up in our balcony. I knew our house deserved it and I felt whole again. ^_^

This was the old umbrella set that I really liked but was blown away by the winds of Ondoy:

This is the new one which we both really love! It’s bigger and it’s color green! The one on the photo below is not even fully open yet. It’s so huge, it occupies most of our balcony. Goodbye sunlight! And finally, we found something that matches the color of our roof!!! Whew! Thanks to ACE, ATC branch. Yung Festival Mall branch, walang kwenta. Teehee.

 4. A new bike - check! In my 31 years on Earth, this bike is only my 3rd one. I had my first one (which I shared with my dad and my siblings) when I was in Elementary. The second one was a BMX pair that Peter and I got back in 2003 coz we frequented Quezon City cirle during the five years we lived in Project 8.  Here, take a look:

This was taken Aug. 2, 2003 at Quezon City Circle wih our first pair of bike. ^_^

My new SGM Discovery Bike.

Then this one. My new bike is an SGM Discovery that is foldable in the middle and in the steering wheel. We can use the smaller car (Yaris) when we bring this to our excursions instead of the bigger one (Revo). Yay! I think the reason why Peter bought me this as his Christmas gift is for me to learn how to get out of the house again even if it’s just within our village. So, I can now go to the village canteen and buy myself some isaw whenever I want to. Teehee. ^_^

5. Revarnishing of the wooden glass doors in front of the house - in progress as I’m blogging this. It’s scheduled to be finished later.

6. Aircon Repair - check! Two of our four aircons got busted and they got repaired two days ago. I just got the number of the repair men online and they were so efficient. I only spent Php4000 for everything. That already included check-up on three aircons, one fan motor replacement (@Php2,700), labor for the two aircons,  cleaning of three aircons, electrical wiring check-up of our breaker circuit  plus repair of breaker. Fantabulous! Here’s their number in case you need some aircon repair/check-up (@250 for all aircons)/cleaning too. 0928-588-0250. Look for Nad. He’s really a nice guy. They only made me pay on the second day, right after everything was finished. They did a pretty good job!

7. Plants - Peter and I don’t have green thumbs. So naturally, due to our busy schedules, we weren’t able to take care of the plants in our backyard. The empty pots are currently being planted with something by our village utility guy. He’s proposing to take care of these new plants and the rest of the old ones. I think I should let him.

So that’s it for now. There’s something else that I want to blog about but I think I’ll save that for another date. Good night!

The announcer said he’s projected as a safety at the next level, but I hope he at least gets a look on offense. FYI, his teammate who committed just 10 days ago had 2 TD receptions of his own. The running back for Niceville is headed to Oklahoma. Amazing how much talent comes from Florida.
