Pre-Christmas 2009 Musings

Personal Space

Ever since I retired from government service and found my bliss working from home, I started staying in around the Yuletide season. What do I mean by this? I mean, if before I tried to attend as many parties or get-togethers as I can, the exact opposite happened and it  is more so this year. Right after my travels (Cebu-CDO-Singapore-Cagbalete-Malapascua <which I haven’t even blogged about yet>), I just felt like I don’t want to  go out of the house for a long, long time…even if it involves making some more money. I said no to VTRs, FGDs,  final castings, I didn’t go to events and parties, I just wanted to enjoy my time at home. As for my Vita Plus biz, I am glad I can do it online and via text and I always have higher ups and couriers who do the deliveries for me. But anyway, I feel kind of weird about it every now and then especially when I don’t even feel remorseful or guilty about not going to those  happenings.  Maybe, it’s just a matter of accepting my preferences and not judging myself. I still don’t know why I am this way but I am trying to. Perhaps, I just needed a break from all the socializing, my body craved sleep and rest (there was a time this year when I haven’t been sleeping at all coz I was saying yes to every opportunity!), and I also thought, what’s the point of having earned all that money if I can’t even say no and buy some alone time for myself?! Right? Right!

So anyways, I’m glad Peter is always supportive of each and every little thing I want and don’t want to do. He’s really such an angel even if he rarely goes home these days because of work. And even if we fight sometimes, I think I still am lucky to be living the life I’ve always wanted. So yeah.. I am pretty much alone most of the time but I don’t feel lonesome.  Go figure.

To Do Christmas or Not

Anyway, around a week or so ago, I started putting Christmas decors around the house. I didn’t feel like it at first. I’d rather have Halloween forever but that’s just me. Christmas is just top 4 now on my fave season  list (1-Halloween, 2-Summer, 3-Valentine’s). I also thought I wouldn’t have the time to put up the decors. Moreover, just thinking about putting up all the decors by myself at that time made me all the more lazy and tired. I figured, the house looks festive enough. It’s not Christmassy, yes.. but it’s festive enough I guess. Look at the photo below… Don’t you think?

The house still had a bit of a Halloweeny mood before I put up the Christmas decors…

Finally, when I did it, it took me 8 straight hours to finish almost everything. I was so into it, I didn’t even eat. I just had Vita Plus and some fruits. I had to continue the next day coz I needed brand new Christmas lights. It was the Christmas tree that I had the most difficulty with. It was 7 feet tall and it was always our helper before who put it up. But since I chose not to have a helper at home (due to numerous stress it caused me I won’t detail them here anymore), I willed myself to put it up. And it has never looked better! Wow, I did it! I really did it!

I’m still glad I did it. The house did look a lot more festive and happy…
