Thank God for the Busyness
October 16, 2009I know I have been so busy…
I miss instantly blogging just about anything and everything that happens to me…
My life is always getting better and there’s no stopping it!
Thank you God, thank you universe for the opportunities. At this day and age, when life surprises us with a lot of unexpected events, it’s always good to be ready and prepared (emotionally, spiritually and financially). So thank you God for Popsy’s support, for my VA jobs, for Peter’s job, for our Vita Plus business and all my other small businesses on the side, they do help us cope and still live a good life. Money does not make the world go round, yes. But it sure can make our life much easier and pleasant. Just manage it well.
On Yahoo’s financial news, I read about things that can hurt you financially. Here’s the part which I resonate with the most. This is the reason why I tend to forego other things (like spending countless hours instantly blogging about my life, going out on gimmicks and parties like I used to before, wasting time watching mindless stuff on TV and even resting too much… ) It’s because I have a financial goal and lifestyle vision I want and will achieve and I will do everything I can to get it. Thank God I have always been financially conscious for as long as I can remember and that I have always had goals to guide me :
5. Spending with no goals to guide you.
One definition of insanity, attributed to Albert Einstein, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Yet that’s how some people approach their finances. They earn and spend and earn and spend, and wonder why they aren’t making any progress.
Break the mindless cycle by figuring out what you value most, whether it’s world travel, returning to school to change careers, home ownership, a peaceful retirement or a debt-free college education for the kids. Then set specific goals, with real time frames, and track your advancement on a monthly basis. Make this a daily discipline by putting a list of those goals in your face — the fridge, your desk at work, your wallet.
Anyway, I know I still owe you so many stories about my life.
For all my upcoming blog posts (meaning some of them already happened I just don’t have the time the blog about them yet and the others are happening this weekend and the coming week — you can always refer to my calendar for updates), please see the list on my sidebar under WATCH OUT FOR.
Ciao for now! Will blog about these things VERY SOON. ^_^
Join The Pasig River Marathon
Year 2009 continues to be an eye opener for me particularly in the environmental field. I know that I have encountered these things before (topics like climate change, greenhouse effect, global warming, pollution, going green, etc.) back in my elementary and high school years and I did my own little contribution to the environment like recycling paper, plastic, water; not using CFC products; and properly throwing and segregating trash. But of course, through the years, these things just seemed to be at the backdrop of things while I go on with this busyness I call my life.
To those who are fond of running, doing marathons, getting physical… this is our chance to once again make a contribution to mother nature. We all know we can only do so much so why don’t we start from where we are?
There’s this Facebook event page of Pasig River Marathon that you might want to check out. If you are 6 years old and above and have nothing better to do on a Sunday or would like do do something worthwhile on November 8, 2009, please Join the Run for Pasig River Marathon. I am currently fixing my schedule that day since I only found out about this now and I am really interested to join the marathon.
Just to give you a little background of how important saving the Pasig River is, did you know that its length of 27 kms covers eight cities and three municipalities? It also divides Manila into two. It links Laguna Bay, the largest lake in the Philippines in the east, and the Manila Bay in the west. Pasig also has four major tributaries (San Juan River, Marikina River, Napindan River, and Pateros River) and 43 minor tributaries that drains solid, industrial, and domestic waste into the river. And because of the latter, it slowly deteriorated from 1930’s when fish migration decreased from Laguna Bay to 1950s-1960s when people’s washing and bathing activities considerably dropped, to the occurrence of unpleasant smell in the 1970s until it was declared biologically dead in the 1990s.
It should be noted that the Pasig River used to be a critical transport route in Spanish Manila. But, because of people’s negligence as well as the industrial development, it became so polluted that it is actually considered dead (unable to sustain life) by ecologists.
But it is not yet too late. The Pasig River can still be saved. And with its revival can come so many environmental and economic opportunities.
So come one and come all! Save the Pasig River, sign up and run!
