Best Meal of the Day: Brunch with Bobby Chinn at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

June 23, 2009

Asia’s high-octane chef Bobby Chinn shares a cup of coffee, a brunch staple, with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s Marketing Director Paolo del Rosario.

Right after our MOA visit, we immediately headed to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf located at The Fort, Taguig. An event was going on which happened to be open to all bloggers. Thanks to Azrael, Eric and Sire for telling us about it! Little did we know that Bobby Chinn was going to be there and Peter almost went ga-ga over him!

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf take brunch a notch higher by bringing in Discovery Travel and Living’s World Cafe Asia star Bobby Chinn.

Peter was intently watching Bobby Chinn the whole time!

Peter is such a fan! He always watches Bobby Chinn on TV! As for me, I’ve watched him before and I knew he’s a funny kind of guy but when I finally saw him talk in person… oh man! He was hilarious!!! I honestly almost fell off my chair from laughing so hard. The man has an extraordinary gift for gab, for a moment there I thought I was watching a stand up comedy show! And he is so adorable and cute too, like I want him to be my next boyfriend. Hahaha!

I was sitting on Bobby Chinn’s chair when we first got there. Then we were asked to transfer to another table. Teehee. ^_^

Too bad he is also fiercely loyal with his long time Singaporean girlfriend. How did I know? I asked him! He also told us earlier that he is in love with his girlfriend coz he cooked her a unique kind of poached egg one morning… the kind that takes hours to do. Who’s to say he’s not in love if he has the patience to do that?! He’s kinda like Peter in a way — he’s cute, he’s funny and he makes yummy food! The latter is of utmost importance when choosing a guy to spend the rest of your life with. Teehee.

Notice Peter’s face? He was carrying this weird facial expression the whole time. I guess he really was star-struck that he couldn’t even talk to the guy so I went ahead and asked Bobby some intimate questions instead. Teehee. ^_^

I’m babbling. I guess his energy sort of rubbed off on me. Bobby Chinn was really awesome! Peter and I were glad we went. It was a very happy surprise. ^_^  And the desserts were great! Not too sweet, just the right taste. We had:

Chicago CheesecakeCamembert Oreo Cheese Tart … OMG! Heaven!

Choco Fudge… I’m such a chocolate person that I wanted to buy some more!

Warm Chocolate Cake… just the right amount of cocoa. Peter loved it!

Lemon Squares … my favorite!

Triple Berry Coffee Cake… more like berries with cake. Yum!

Here’s why brunch is the best meal of the day – you don’t have to wake up early, you get to enjoy The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s food and beverage selection leisurely, and you get to do all that with Asia’s high-octane chef, Bobby Chinn.

“It’s a combination of all good things,” says Paolo del Rosario, Marketing Director for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf “Great food, one heck of a chef and spending Saturday afternoons with friends and loved ones.”

As suggested by culinary evidence, brunch has been associated with the privileged, noble and wealthy, as only they could afford to spend extended time and expense indulging themselves in the pleasures of food. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf takes this indulgence a notch higher by bringing in Discovery Travel and Living’s World Cafe Asia star Bobby Chinn.

Bobby has run several highly acclaimed restaurants in Vietnam before opening Restaurant Bobby Chinn, including Camargue, Saigon Joe’s in Ho Chi Minh City, Miro, and the Red Onion Bistro in the Hanoi Towers (formerly the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” prison).  Now he owns his own Asian Fusion restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam.

And from one celebrity to the next, brunch is considered to be the meal of choice by the young, hip and urban as displayed by Young Hollywood like Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and Peen Badgely and Twilight’s Robert Pattinson, who are often caught by the paparazzi brunching out with their fellow actors. This brunch phenomenon has been attributed to the elimination of waking up early on Saturdays for Friday partyphiles.

“The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf also have the same relationship with celebrities as our Los Angeles branch is often frequented by Miley Cyrus, Hayden Panettiere and David Beckham,” says del Rosario. “And with our brunch recommendations I think you’ll be seeing more stars at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf stores.”

Being a “conversation hub”, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s brunch recommendations takes in mind the words of Guy Beringer, the person credited for coining the word brunch. Beringer says that “brunch is cheerful sociable and inciting. It is talk compelling and puts you in a good temper.” And with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s brunch selections such as Brek O’ Day, Salmon Scramble, Muffins, Eggs Ben and an assortment of Tea Lattes, it will surely be meal worth talking about.

“Of course what is brunch without dessert?” says del Rosario “You can choose from Chicago Cheesecake, Camembert Oreo Cheese Tart, Choco Fudge, Warm Chocolate Cake, Lemon Squares and Triple Berry Coffee Cake to satisfy your sweet tooth.”

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is located at TriNoMa, SM The Block, Gateway, Ortigas Park, Paseo Center, Bonifacio High Street, Mall of Asia, Convergys Ayala Avenue, Salcedo Village, Alabang Town Center, Rockwell, Robinson’s Ermita, Grreenhills Promenade, Robinson’s Galleria, eastwood, Tomas Morato and 2 more branches in Cebu.
