Sandbox Mobile Media Launch

June 12, 2009

June 12, Independence Day, a holiday that commences the long weekend. I’m not really into political matters so it’s okay that i.ph was acting up and I couldn’t post anything relevant to the occasion. I did however offer a prayer of thanks that morning to all the departed souls of our heroes who fought for our independence a long time ago…the very reason why people like me can afford to be apathetic on this momentous day (don’t shoot me, it’s just the way I am). Anyway,  Peter and I normally have some out of town trip planned for weekends like this. But as adulthood becomes more and more challenging, it also becomes harder and harder to plot vacations on our calendar. Either Peter would have some meetings scheduled or he is doing overtime work. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. I am happy living the funky housewife role (which is my ultimate dream after all, yay!) while Peter earns a decent living for the both of us. But still, it would have been nice to go surfing in Zambales or La Union or go kayaking somewhere near like Batangas. Anyway, since I already knew that it was going to be a not-so-laid back weekend for him, I made schedules for myself as well.

June 11, Thursday, started off by delivering some Victoria’s Secret lingerie to a client in Mandaluyong who also happens to read my blog (Thanks so much, Roselle! Dapat pala nag photo op man lang tayo when we met outside Shangri La Mall, Teehee. Next time!). It was always at the back of my mind to do Air21 or Fedex delivery instead. But it’s also nice meeting new people from time to time. Is it my extrovert side finally kicking in? Probably. Hihihi.

Roselle and I met up for only a few minutes. I met her wonderful hubby and cute little kid. If I wasn’t in a hurry to go shopping, it would have been nice to stay a while and chat. Unfortunately, I didn’t know then that Shangri La Mall opens at 11am. And I was there at around 10:30am. So afterwards, I headed back to SM Ayala where I did a bit of shopping. Then it was waiting time…

Sandbox Mobile Media Launch was scheduled at 4:00 pm. It was only 12 noon when I finished what I had to do at the mall. I lounged at one of the benches at the open Supermarket area and plurked my time away using my mobile phone. An hour has passed and I started getting bored. Should I just go home? Or should I wait some more? Decluttering my mind, I took out my pen and paper and actually listed down the pros and cons of going to the launch.

PROS:

1. I am excited about the launch and I want to witness it.
2. If I am one of the early birds, I might get a free ticket to the Pussycat Dolls’ Concert

3. I might enjoy myself.

CONS:
1. I’m not really a fan of Pussycat Dolls.
2. My time may be better used at home where I can finish some work.
3. I only had two hours of sleep and I would really love to go home and sleep.

Considering the fact that I only had 2 hours of sleep the night before, I may still not be making the right decision. So by 2pm, I went to the taxi station in front SM Ayala and waited for my turn to get a cab that will bring me to A. Venue where the Sandbox Launch will be held. I’m still raring to go home. But I already said yes to the Geiser Maclang people who invited me and I hate breaking commitments. However, I was already feeling a bit woozy. So, halfway through the line, I gave up my spot and started walking to the bus station, finally deciding to go home. I’m still quite torn though so I texted Peter and asked for his opinion. As usual, he basically told me to do whatever it is that I am most comfortable with. He’s always sweet that way. BUT, he also mentioned that there might be some opportunities for photo op. THAT totally changed my mind and in a jiff, I’m back at the end of the line at the cab station. This Jen, what an impulsive brat. Teehee. I mean I knew there was going to be photo ops coz I’d most probably be taking photos of and with my blogger colleagues and friends. However, the way he texted it brought a new meaning to the context and it strongly persuaded me to go. This hubby of mine really know how to tickle my vanity bone. Teehee.

L-R: Me, Jonel and Carl

By 2:20pm, I was in a cab, snoozing my way through the afternoon Makati traffic. And by 2:50 pm, I was already in front of Bureau. People from Smart were still fixing the place and I didn’t see anyone I know except for Ms. RezyWezy who was busily supervising everything. I didn’t want to intrude so I just waited a while. After 10 minutes of staring into space, I saw two youngsters who looked like bloggers. They entered the venue and so I followed. I didn’t wanna be cheated of my #1 slot for being the first one there (at least I thought I was the first blogger there). Poor us, the guard said that the event will start at 5pm and will probably start admitting guests at 4pm. I just made the most out of the situation by befriending Krichelle and her Kuya.

We toured the mall a bit and finally saw Tita Noemi in one of the bars near the venue. There were a few other bloggers there too. Yay! To make this long story short, we initiated making our own registration list using my cute little notebook and Jonel’s ballpen just to be sure we’re in the Top 50 first registrants. Mahirap ng magkagulo later on. Buti na yung may proof. Hehehe. True enough, when people from Geiser Maclang arrived, they were happy to use our little registration sheet. Before we knew it, we were now upstairs, enjoying the buffet and spotting some celebrities. Thanks to Tita Noemi and Anton for sharing their table with us. We were in front of the stage! Yay!

L-R: Ramon Bautista, Mojojojo, Chris Tiu, Mo Twister

You’ll be happy to know that Peter was able to follow too as part of his “work” and even reintroduced me to Mo Twister and Mojojojo who happens to be his friends. I’m not really privy to that info except for the fact that Mo knows Popsy and vice versa. Yay! P.S. Mo & Mojo looked way more handsome in person, I swear. I think I had the same thought when I was first introduced to him in a T.G.I.F.  event before. Too bad, Mo & I we’re both kinda shy. I would’ve wanted to hug and kiss him. And Mojo too! He’s so cute!!! Teehee!

Mojojojo on the other hand, finds Jayvee cute. Teehee.

Sandbox Mobile Media Launch was the ultimate, most fun, most extravagant launch I have ever attended! There was a fashion show, displaying the stuff they sell at Digisoria (Hmmm… I’m hoping to sell my lingerie there…)

there were dance scenes, action sequences showcasing the online games and videos they offer, there were talks from Smart’s and Erricsson’s bigwigs…

There was celebrity spotting…

I even got to have my photo taken with Chris Tiu!!!!!

I rarely watch local TV these days but I think I will after this event! So many beautiful people these days, it’s so exciting! I was even crushing on one of the male models. But Peter said he’s gay. Really? Huhuhu. Oh and there were major prizes given away during the raffle like Nokia N60 and the Nokia E75 plus VIP  PCD concert tickets. I didn’t win though. Bummer. But I was still counting on my own tickets, whichever section it would be for (VIP, Gold, SIlver, Bronze, General Admission) The launch ended and there was no word about tickets for the first 50 registrants. This couldn’t be happening. I got spilled with iced tea earlier and I was still in a good mood coz I knew something good will happen.  That’s how the law of attraction works. Just keep feeling good and something better will eventually turn up.  It wouldn’t hurt to do a little bit of self assertion too. So I went down and asked one of the Geiser people about it. They didn’t exactly know what kind of tickets will be given but there will definitely be one for each. So I fell in line and voila! When my turn came, I was given a Skullcandy Headset and a VIP ticket to the Pussycat Dolls’ concert. OH-MY-GOD!!!!!!  VIP tickets!!!!! I went out of the door feeling so ecstatic! There, I met Fritz, Melo and the musicblogger. They were the ones who told me that the Skullcandy headset is a prized gadget. Well, I’m no geek so I didn’t know. But after hearing what they said, that made me more frenzied! OMG! And to think I almost thought of not going. Sabi nga ni Brother Bo Sanchez, a lot of good things happen just by turning up. You just have to be there. Coz you’ll never know what blessings await you unless you turn up. Grabe, he was so right!

Now the only thing missing is the fact that I was the only one who got a VIP ticket to the PCD concert. Poor Peter. He would just have to wait for me. I didn’t really feel bad. I can take care of myself inside the concert scene. And I’m sure Peter wouldn’t mind. Then, Tita Noemi came out and she was giving away her ticket coz one of her daughters couldn’t make it. I wasn’t really thinking about it. I just blurted it out. “Tita, can I have your ticket na lang for Peter?” And Tita Noemi said yes! Oh wow!!!!! She is my angel that night! God bless her a hundred fold! I quickly called Peter who was still inside Burueau mingling and socializing I presume. When he found out I got us tickets, he went ecstatic and hurriedly came out without getting his loot bag. He went back in to get his Skullcandy headset. So now, we have two. His is black & white while mine is black and red with a furry animal print. How cute!!! Sandbox/Smart had a special shuttle bus for all the VIP ticket holders but Peter and I opted to ride Zach instead (our Toyota Yaris). On the way to the parking lot, Peter noticed that he still had another freebie — a P2000 gift certificate from SM. Woah!!!

We computed everything we took home that night. Skullcandy headsets sell for about P3000, the VIP tickets are P7000 each plus the P2000 gift certificate. All in all, we took home loot amounting to P22,000 give or take. Sandbox is really the ultimate! They not only give out the best of services on the web (and the only provider of that here in South East Asia), they really know how to throw a party too. Oh,did I tell you how great the buffet dishes were?

I loved everything —  pasta, kinilaw na tuna, pork barbeque on sticks, bread, ham and cheese roll and the super delectable cream puffs. *burp*  Then off we went to the PCD concert. Woohoo!!!!

With the launch of Sandbox, the latest web platform that unites social networking, online media content sharing and downloading, as well as web services, the future of digital connection for Filipinos comes with a new breakthrough interactive experience.

The event, recently held at Bureau marks the unveiling of a technology that seamlessly fuses your digital lifestyle online and on the go. With Sandbox, one can easily access anything at the touch of a fingertip, as all information from the website is readily shared between PCs and mobile phones.

After clicking the download link sent to one’s mobile, the requested music, game, or movie wallpaper is installed to one’s phone in a matter of seconds.

Taking shopping to a whole new level is Digisoria, Sandbox’s unique online retail portal. Here, shoppers and sellers will discover a more streamlined way to connect to each other, as Digisoria categorizes online merchants to make searching for specific products that buyers want faster. Entrepreneurial spirits will find this a great opportunity to bring their products to their target market, as shoppers will likewise find it as a cost-efficient and hassle-free way to find the things they want on the web.
