I Got Myself an iPhone Clone

June 9, 2009

Two weeks ago, when I was still doing my interviews with my friends, I saw Vina carrying a brand new phone that looked exactly like an iPhone. I actually thought it was an Apple iPhone! Hadn’t she told me, Peter and I wouldn’t really know. It was so pretty (yeah, she was showing us videos of Hayden Kho with Maricar Reyes and Katrina Halili and the Brazilian model, LOL.). Not that I had to have a new phone coz I still have three working ones (my old O2 XDA IIs for texting,  schedules, notes, photos, videos and other files; my reliable classic Nokia 6120 for being very handy when in public and for its easy 3G capabilities; and my Sony Ericsson W760 which I haven’t really used a lot coz it’s a bit redundant with my Nokia). Anyway, suffice it to say that I fell in love with it. But of course, I wouldn’t shell out P43,500 just to have the latest gadget. I’m no geek and I’m not even an Apple fan. I find it overpriced and not so easy to use. On the other hand, when I found out later on that there’s really not much difference between the two and Vina can get one for me at only P5000, my jaw practically dropped. I scrutinized her phone then later went to Apple Store to scrutinize the real iphone. Except for the fact that this one has a stylus, uses GPRS (Who needs HSDPA when I have three other HSDPA ready phones BUT, if you really need  wifi, they also have a clone for that which is priced at P10,000. Still a steal, right?), and the iphone logo at the back uses a slightly different font, once it’s already inside the leather casing, it’s practically a clone! Other than those I mentioned, it has everything the iphone has and probably even more coz it comes with an extra battery, you can download Apple apps in it, comes with 1 GB memory card, it’s dual sim (put in your Globe, Smart and/or Sun sim if you wish!), comes with a leather Apple case and did I tell you you’ll save around P38,000  with it too (you can already buy a decent laptop with that money or maybe even go to Hong Kong or Thailand or Bangkok!)? So yeah, I got myself one. I’ve yet to discover if I’m gonna regret it, coz like I told you I’m no geek. But for P5k, it’s already very much worth it. It’s called a Sciphone, a real iPhone clone. ^_^
