Resorts World Manila’s Red Carpet Event

June 30, 2009

I went to Resorts World Manila’s Casino Royale Red Carpet event last June 26, 2009.  Yes, I went sashaying at a real red carpet event and it was so exciting! Of course, none of this would have been possible had Jonas and Rizal not invited me and especially if Jayvee hadn’t picked me up  from home that day. Hugs to Jayvee! Like Rizal said, you are a good man, dude. And I totally agree! Thanks so much!  Coz it would have been so hard for me to commute all the way to the meeting place, then change my attire from street wear to Hollywood glam. Which is exactly what I would have done if the universe did not decide to make my life a lot easier that day. So to the universe, thank you!  I truly appreciate it. Teehee.

Jayvee & I arrived at the Star Cruises building in Newport Manila at around 8pm. The moment we entered the red carpet, strikingly gorgeous ushers and usherettes welcomed us as well as blinding flashes from event photographers. We felt so special. This was my second time to attend a Resorts World Manila event and by this time, I pretty much figured that they truly try to live up to their  6-star resort standards by treating each guest with utmost hospitality that I wished I live there every single day. ^_^

There were other bloggers by then and we of course mingled with those we know. I saw Janette Toral and off we went talking about a Wiccan project. Liz joined us after a little while as we chatted about vanity and stuff. We then met Jane in person  popularly known as betweenbites online. She was with her BF Chris and they were both so pleasant, pretty and nice.  More photo ops followed and at around 9 PM, the event started with a grand introduction before we were ushered to the 2nd floor where games, fun and prizes awaited us all.

I again played baccarat and roulette. Never mind that I was losing sometimes. It was fun and I was learning something new. Pica-pica, softdrinks and wine kept on coming that in a few minutes I was already betting more than I had to and my level of enjoyment was increasing by the minute. *hic!*

When I was on my second game, Peter suddenly arrived from work. Hurray! We were all so happy he was able to make it. And as I expected, he placed in the overall tournament and won a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Hurray!

Peter’s 31st Birthday Spent at UNO Party

June 29, 2009

UNO Magazine celebrated its newest issue by partying last June 25, 2009 at LAX Night Club, San Miguel by the Bay, Mall of Asia with fashion icon Celine Lopez as the current issue’s stunning cover girl,  MTV VJ Maggie Wilson and with the music of Philippines’ most prominent DJs, DJ X Factor.

Peter and I were very lucky to be invited to such an event. Never mind that Peter finished work pretty late on his birthday and that I had to commute from Alabang to Ayala to meet up with him before heading to  LAX Night Club. The important thing was we were able to party with UNO that night, enjoying the music of DJ X Factor.

Oh yeah! LAX Night Club definitely brought to Manila Hollywood’s style of hip & stylish  partying. A lot of sexy, gorgeous, beautiful and handsome gals & guys attended the  said event… truly eye candies for the partying souls. ^_^

FIGARO Launches Three New Delectable Dishes

June 28, 2009

Peter and I have always been huge fans of Figaro’s specialty pasta dishes particularly their Classic Chorizo and Pasta a la Carlo. So it was a very pleasant surprise when we got invited to the launch of their three new delectable dishes. We couldn’t wait to see and taste for ourselves their new offering.

We were very excited that we arrived  at 10 AM that morning, an hour early than what was scheduled. Well, SLEX traffic is unpredictable these days so better leave the house early than be late for an appointment right? At least we had a little time to ourselves as we enjoyed their coffee and iced tea and as Peter helped me calm my nerves for that afternoon’s QTV interview. Teehee.

As we were waiting for the event to start, we also got the chance to meet and talk to Peter’s former i.ph colleague, Mico Marco who was also covering the event for ABS-CBN, and Figaro’s Marketing Manager, the very amiable Mr. Ace Azarraga. Mico and Ace happen to be very active frisbee players and I might just take them up on their offer to play frisbee one of these days. Hehehe.

With its goal of providing variety of new products to its food choices, the Filipino-owned corporation Figaro Coffee Systems, Inc. today introduces three new delectable dishes to satisfy a broader spectrum of customers.

The three mouth-watering dishes are:

Dory Provencal, a pan-fried cream dory fish-fillet infused in zesty Provencal sauce;

Sweet Coffee Porkchop, luscious coffee sauce made of freshly brewed coffee poured over to savory slice of porkchop;

and the Tuscan Chicken, a hearty Italian inspired grilled chicken seasoned with selected herbs and spices topped with Provencal sauce.

“We want to introduce new dishes to our customers that are distinctly Figaro in taste. Like our Sweet Coffee Porkchop, we ensure that our freshly brewed House Reserved coffee will be used to create the perfect flavour and color to our porkchop,” said Chef Karl Tan of Figaro.

All for P199, you can now enjoy each of these dishes together with a pasta of your choice (Arrabbiata, Al Tonno, Carbonara, Classic Chorizo and Pesto), Green Salad and a choice of 12oz. Iced Tea or 12oz. Iced Coffee.

Apart from keeping a critical eye on broadening its niche market, Figaro also aims to be recognized not for introducing affordable specialty roasted local coffee varieties and various coffee-related paraphernalia but also great-tasting food.

We at Figaro do not only keep a critical eye on expansion plans for our market. We also take our time out to know what would best satisfy our customers, even those with discriminating tastes. Figaro is up for the challenge of innovation and satisfying the needs and pocket of our customers because we feel that they should be getting their money’s worth,” said Ace L. Azarraga, Marketing Manager of Figaro Coffee Systems, Inc.

Established in 1993, Figaro is a 100-percent Filipino-owned company whose product lines include specialty roasted local coffee varieties and various sandwiches, pizza, pasta and more. It has about 65 outlets nationwide, most of which are in Luzon. (30)

Still Mourning the Death of Michael Jackson, the Undisputed King of Pop

June 27, 2009

It’s Saturday morning. In a few hours, my hubby and I are scheduled to go to Batangas to celebrate his birthday. I’ve already packed my clothes, cleaned the house, brewed some  coffee and toasted some bread for breakfast. I figured it was still too early to wake Peter up. So I sat on my massage rocking chair and watched CNN. I just wanted to know the developments on the death of my ultimate idol, the undisputed King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I was intently listening to what the newscaster was saying when so suddenly, I again couldn’t control the sudden surge of emotion I was feeling. I wept… I wept like a little child. I rarely cry these days. So it was a mighty phenomenon for me to be experiencing so much emotional pain inside that I needed to let it all out. I decided to video myself too coz those were precious tears I was shedding. I just want the world to know that I am extremely sad over the death of Michael Jackson, the performer. I respected him as a private person but I loved him more as an artist. And I am just so sad that the world will never see him make new music nor perform again. I love you Michael. We all do. And your memory will live on forever.

Here, the little beauty, poise and charm I think I have all flew out of the window. I didn’t care… I still don’t. I am so devastated… and I don’t know when I’ll recover.

Goodbye Michael Jackson…

June 26, 2009

I was shocked, confused and totally heartbroken the first time I heard of the news early this morning c/o Chris on Plurk. I immediately turned on the TV and looked for any news about Michael Jackson until I tuned into CNN. At that time, around 6 a.m., CNN has not yet confirmed his death. But now, 9:00 a.m., it’s been confirmed, he has died of cardiac arrest.

Michael Jackson will be truly missed.  He has been my idol all my life.  I was already listening to his music together with that of Madonna since the age of five. He was an extraordinary person, artist and performer and there is no one like him in this world and in this lifetime. I am at a loss for words and so is the rest of the world. We love you, Michael. We hope you are happy and at peace wherever you are. You will remain alive in our hearts for all time.

Here’s my most favorite of his songs. The first time I saw him here, that was when I first “romantically” fell in love with him. He was so gorgeous here and how I hoped he never had to change his color and his looks. But I loved him still no matter what.Goodbye Michael. We will always love you.
