Star Trek Movie Date with The Mordo
May 14, 2009I used to catch the Star Trek TV series version before when there was nothing better to watch on cabe TV. I’ve always liked seeing the U.S.S. Enterprise on screen but since I never really got to follow the story, I did not become a fan of it. However, last weekend, it seemed to be the best movie showing in the cinemas so I invited Peter to come watch it with me, not knowing that though he is not a Trekkie, he is a fan of it (yeah, I learn something new in our marriage everyday, hehe) . While the cinema was showing other movie previews and while I was munching on my hotdog sandwich and Spud fries, Peter was giving me unsolicited pieces of information about the characters which I appreciated coz it did make me understand the movie a lot better later on. And my verdict? Woah! The story literally blew me away! I’ve already expected that the effects will truly be awesome but the way the director and his crew offered an alternate reality to the entire Star Trek story was really remarkable. Chris Pine gave life to his character as one James T. Kirk, an assertive, fearless, adventurous Iowa farm boy, a complete opposite of Zachary Quinto’s character who definitely was very convincing as he portrayed his emotionless Vulcan character Spock (well, having played Sylar in TV series HEROES, the role did fit him quite well). The entire movie was cooked aldente for my taste. There were lots of sci-fi action, a bit of heart-wrenching scenes and some comic relief. It was perfect! I’m getting a DVD copy of it to keep for all time. ^_^
P.S. Just before heading inside the cinema, we had our dessert first at Funnel Cake Factory, Festival Mall Branch. An order of nutty caramel and peanut butter banana, both with vanilla ice cream is just Php110.00 each. It’s quite pricey if you ask me. But hey, if you are craving for sweets and don’t mind the additional calories, this proved to be one of the more yummy desserts I had. If I can make one at home, I’ll do so. But for now, I’ll stick with the funnel cakes they offer right at the factory. ^_^
