iBlog5: The 5th Philippine Blogging Summit

Like I said the previous day, I had to be at U.P. Malcolm Theater (where iBlog5 was held) by 8AM to do some volunteer work. Considering that I usually sleep at 6AM, I had to come without having had any. I thought I was going to help out in the food distribution but seeing that there was still no food when I arrived at 7:30AM, I helped prepare the bloggers’ kits instead. It was energizing to be somewhat “exercising” early this Saturday morning.
That’s me trying to pose for a quick shot while doing some volunteer work.
Come 9:30AM, I went inside the theater coz I wanted to catch the speakers. The following was the schedule of this event:
Morning session:
- 9:00 - 9:15 Invocation, National Anthem, Welcoming Remarks
- 9:20 - 9:40 Blogging 101 (Micaela Rodriguez & AJ Matela)
- 9:45 - 10:05 Photo Blogging 101 (Faith Salazar and Fritz Tentativa)

- 10:30 to 10:50 Video Blogging 101 (Azrael Coladilla and Kring Elenzano)
- 10:55 - 11:15 Mobile Blogging 101 (Edwin “Ka Edong” Soriano)
- 11:20 - 11:40 Do’s and Don’ts of Blogging 101 (Benj Espina and Juned Sonido)
- 11:45 - 12:05 Blog Promotion & Traffic Generation Strategies 101 (Winston Almendras and Coy Caballes)
- 12:10 - 1:00 Lunch break
Afternoon session:
- 1:00 - 1:20 Legal issues in Blogging (Atty. JJ Disini)
- 1:30 - 2:15 Preparing Bloggers for the 2010 Elections
- COMELEC on Blogging & Bloggers (Dir. James Jimenez, COMELEC-EID Director)
- Citizen Journalism for the 2010 Elections (Oliver Robillo, NAMFREL Chairman - Davao City)

I was only able to attend the morning session. I already knew most of the stuff they talked about but it was still good to hear some new words of wisdom from the lecturers. I’m sure a lot of newbie bloggers learned a lot and I am very much excited for them! Who knows where blogging will lead them in the future, right?! I would’ve loved to stay and hear the afternoon speakers coz their topics are those that I am really interested about but come twelve noon, I asked Peter if we can go home instead. I was so dazed from having been awake for more than 48 hours and my world was already spinning. After I accompanied him during lunch (he got a food stub while I wasn’t able to get any, tsk, tsk. That’s okay, I was happy to help out anyway), we went on our way. I was pretty much out the moment I got in the car. Oh, while Peter was eating, I got interviewed by flippish.com. Geesh, I wonder when that will be shown? I hope they edit me out. I absolutely had no clue what I was saying. Teehee.

Anyway, seeing how organized the morning session was and based on the feedback I heard after the event, I congratulate all the organizers of iBlog5 especially Ms. Janette Toral for a job well done. I wish them more successful years to come! For more photos, please click here.
