The Sexy Nomad attends the launch of Awesome Philippines.
On April 22, 2009, Adam Mordo and I were lucky to be among other key travel bloggers who got invited at M Cafe in Ayala Museum for the launch of AWESOME PHILIPPINES.
The Mordo meets the Secretary of Dept. of Tourism, Sec. Joseph “Arce” Durano
MTV Asia and the Philippine Department of Tourism headed by Secretary Joseph βArceβ Durano, have set in motion Awesome Philippines, a very unique national tourism crusade for the whole country. It was implemented as part of MTV Revelations and uses a series of video vignettes and new media in promoting the Philippines to youth travelers in eleven overseas markets, including the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Canada, Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore.

M Cafe served delectable dishes that night…
The Philippine Department of Tourism chose MTV Asia as their partner for its Awesome Philippines campaign because the MTV branding resonates well among the youth market worldwide.
βIn the vignettes, the youth connection is distinctive as it employs a style that is synonymously MTV β fast-paced, vivid and visually engaging. Additionally, the vignettes strongly bring out a true Filipino flavor while it presents the Philippines as a must-visit travel destination for the overseas youth market.β
Together with Sec. Durano, there were also other key persons from MTV and their media partner who introduced the campaign to all of us: Eduardo Mapa Jr. (Managing Director / Media Contacts); Sherry Magno (Media Contacts) — the one who demonstrated Video Remixes; Yvonne Tey (Director, Marketing Partnerships / MTV Asia); Andrew Chan (Technical Consultant for the activity on Second Life) and MTV VJ Maggie Wilson. The Awesome Philippines campaign adopts highly-interactive web activities such as online contests and Video Remixes which I actually joined. I created a remix of a dream vacation I would love to have in the hopes that I get to win and actually make that dream come true! Check out the video remixes I made by clicking the following links:
If you like it, vote for it! But you must register first so you can make your own video remix too! You can make as many video remixes as you want. Let me know so I can vote for you too! ^_^ The contest is ongoing and will last until May 24, 2009.
Moreover, come May, another exciting web-based activity for the Awesome Philippines campaign will be launched using the virtual world of Second Life. Users (you) will have access to a number of various features. Won’t you just love to create your own virtual identity, be able to interact with other virtual users, encounter exciting objects, and participate in individual or group tasks while you explore a virtual Philippines? Wouldn’t that be so awesome? Tour the whole Philippines in the comforts of your own home and eventually, visit those beautiful spots for real too! We all know how beautiful this country is. With its 7,107 islands full of rich, natural resources, we will never run out of places to go. From Ilocos, Batangas to Bicol; From Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete & Palawan; to Camiguin, Davao and Surigao, Philippines is just indeed awesome!
