Isa’s Birthday Bash

Cebu Pacific’s flight got delayed on April 3. So instead of being at home late in the afternoon, we arrived late in the evening, tired, uber sunburnt and with aching joints.  We didn’t have proper dinner anymore. As soon as we hit our bed, we immediately fell asleep. I didn’t even have the energy to unpack our things, as O.C. as I can be. That was how overfatigued we were.

On the other hand, we did need the rest because the next evening, Peter’s beautiful first cousin Isa was celebrating her birthday and we were invited. It was held at Route 168 along Visayas Ave. in Q.C. Jayvee was invited too! We picked him up at home and off we went to Isa’s birthday bash  for some  bonding and booze.

Honestly, I was quite surprised when we got there. I surmised that there would be a lot of people since Isa is a very friendly gal. But family? That was totally unexpected. Since Peter’s Mom died in 2002 and the fallout Peter had with that side of his family(to make the long story short, they accused us of  spending money that is not ours and not taking care of Peter’s Mom that’s why she died … hello?! Don’t they know how much money I earned at GSIS before? And Peter’s life stopped for six years to take care of her!!! Anyway…let’s not get into that), we really haven’t been in contact with them. Even Peter’s relationship with Isa got affected for a while but it’s all good now.

Anyway, Isa’s father was there (after all, his girlfriend owns the place that’s why the bash was held there… so sweet of her, really) as well as her grandparents, uncles and aunts. I saw Peter was happy so I relaxed. I guess at this point I can say that no matter what happens in families, blood is still thick enough to get through the rut. As for the grandmother, I’m not sure if she was getting senile or she really disregarded us. Oh well. That’s that. The important thing is we got to bond with Tita Vina and Tita Tiny and Isa was very happy to find most of her loved ones in one place. Happy birthday  again Isa!!! Know that whatever happens, we’re here for you.

Kai’s Graduation Party

The following day, April 5, Peter and I were invited by a blogger friend, Kai, to her graduation lunch party at Gerry’s Grill in Trinoma. She is such a sweet, sweet girl that we’d totally go wherever that party is. So, even if we were tired from Isa’s bash the previous night, and we’d have to brave the traffic all the way to QC, it was no biggie. Besides, we missed Trinoma. It’s been ages since we’ve last been to that place!

It was a simple and intimate party with her closest of friends and we truly appreciated how she considers us as such. It was fun getting acquainted with everybody else. Her friends were such an adorable and friendly bunch.

Cheers to you, Kai! And congratulations on your graduation. We wish you well in your chosen career and may more blessings come your way. Take it easy, girl. We’re just here for yah!

*I seem to have misplaced, deleted or lost the photos for this event. *huhuhu*

Tinkering with our Nail Art Machine

The 4th generation Nail Art machine arrived a while back. But it was only during Holy Week that I got to tinker with it. Unlike the 3rd gen machine we had last year, this one already comes with a built-in computer and LCD. Printing nail art is now a lot faster than ever! Now, all I need is to partner with a salon lest we can rent it out to private clients more effectively. For more information, please see my NAIL ART BLOG.

Time Out with John and Lingerie Musings

You all know how I started loving lingerie and all that stuff. Well, on Easter Sunday, Peter and I planned to head to the manufacturer’s house to buy wholesale so I can resell them. After  choosing from tons of styles, I finally got the ones I think would sell. Please head over  to my ONLINE GARAGE SALE SITE for more info.  Anyway, it so happened that John was looking for some company that day too. Since we were on our way and his house was just nearby, we visited him for a change. His mom invited us for lunch and we met his entire family including his brother, sister-in-law and his newborn nephew….soooo cute! Afterwards, we accompanied him to Xavier Open Field for some frisbee action. He invited us to join him but unfortunately, we were not dressed up for sports that day. Hopefully, next time, we stil have enough energy left to do this kind of activity coz despite the heat, it looked pretty exciting and fun from where I was watching! ^_^

My Crazy Little Project

When I first heard about Saving Sally from Jonas Diego’s site, I had this very strong urge to try out for the role of Sally. Maybe I just miss acting a lot and I was craving for something different even if it’s not-so-new to me anymore. Unfortunately, I got busy with a ton of different things and the casting has already been done… Until… I saw Helga’s plurk and found out that they were STILL looking for the perfect Sally character. I was apprehensive at first, skeptic even. Coz what if the role has already been cast and this was just a social marketing ploy to attract attention like what they did in the island reef job? But anyway, I went ahead and submitted a simple video application on the same hour that I found out about it. It’s not because I really wanted to get the part (I don’t think I’m even the type they want) but most importantly, it’s for my own personal satisfaction knowing that I still know how to act.

The next day, I was happy to find a reply email from the director/producers acknowledging and thanking me for my submission.  That was actually enough to make my day. Immediately, I texted all my former co-actors and casters telling them that in case they need someone for a shoot, I am available and that my braces are now off. Oh, I am also going to start attending acting workshops again starting May 10. Let me know if you’re interested. I am part of the NEW ENTABALADO PILIPINO. They hold acting workshops every Sunday somewhere in Mindanao Ave., Q.C. Fee is Php500 per session. You need 10 sessions to get a certificate and your membership is for life. Contact me if you’re interested! (0918-927-0850). I  finished this course back in 2003 so I can just go back anytime I want to. Hopefully, this time around, I get to devote more time on improving my acting skills. Coz I definitely need and want it.

Anyway, here’s the Sally video application I made.:

As Sally, the scene required me to talk to my bestfriend about my day, subtlely hiding some sort of pain as evidenced by a small bruise on my neck or something like that

Things I need to know about Sally:

1.She likes inventing things. Sometimes it’s small robots with personality defects. A lot of the time she builds contraptions that help her do the household chores, like a machine that has octopus arms to help her hang up the laundry, or a clothes iron that moves by itself. She makes things out of scraps of metal and junk she finds, so most of her inventions end up blowing up.

She is a bit of a geek, really spunky, really goofy, upbeat, incidentally pretty and intelligent. She’s also a bit insecure.

2. Her best friend is Marty, a wimpy guy she once saved from bullying back when she was fourteen. She and Marty have dreams of studying at the College of Fine Arts when they graduate from high school. Marty is secretly in love with Sally. He’s been in love for a long time now. Sally is oblivious to this.

3. Sally’s father is dead. Her mom abandoned her when she was a baby. Sally now lives with her foster parents, an uncle and aunt who don’t really want her around. They make Sally do all the chores. Sally’s foster dad is strict and beats her when she doesn’t follow the rules. Sally’s foster mom is a religious fanatic who censors everything she reads and watches. Sally doesn’t like to talk about her problems. Either she cracks jokes about them (like she got her bruises from hanging out with Batman) or she just is sullen and quiet.

4. Sally’s boyfriend is a much older guy who in the eyes of Marty is pretty much an evil monstrous dickhead.

5. Sally is working on an ultra top secret project that will solve all her problems.

In short… Sally is a mix of Sunny Baudelaire, Amelie, Juno, My Sassy Girl & Cinderella : )
