My Fun Plan Amidst the Global Crisis
February 9, 2009Lately, I’ve been in the habit of conversing with myself. No, I’m not going crazy. Hehehe. On the contrary, I’ve been doing some mental processing regarding the current global economic situation. This is what my “inner voice” has been whispering to me lately:
What’s the plan, Jen? It looks like your happy days are about to be over. The global economic crisis is finally catching up and you won’t get to play the role of the perfect little housewife anymore which you are tremendously enjoying right now. You need to get a stable job while at the same time trying not to sacrifice your own happiness in the process.
I completely understand. After all, I do miss being out there, meeting all kinds of people, doing a great job serving my superiors and helping colleagues. So guess what I did?
I started submitting my resume once again and I already got a couple of responses and schedules for interviews and exams. I feel quite excited about them! But at the same time, I didn’t realize that all these companies I applied at would be answering so fast. Some of them even wanted me to start ASAP. As much as it breaks my heart, my plate is full at the moment doing some freelance work that I’ve already committed myself to do. And the soonest I can really go back to the work force full time would be on April 4. So I guess, I have to stop applying right now, finish my current work commitments and just focus on the interviews that have already been scheduled. Hopefully, if they want to hire me, they’d allow me to start on the said date. So, just to make sure that I do everything right, and make the most out of my current situation before I once again delve into a full time office position either here or abroad (I’m crossing my fingers on Bahrain & Dubai where my cousin promised to help get me a visa and a job), here’s my action plan: 1. Stop applications for now and start aggressively applying again on April 4, 2009; 2. Do my best on those job interviews that were already scheduled; 3. In the event that I get to spare a few hours every day doing something else, consider studying / reviewing the following:
Relevant MDP learning
Ebook on Honest Riches
Modules on Basic French
Book on Driving Basics
Enroll in the following courses:
Driving
Scuba Diving
Swimming
Despite the growing fear brought about by the current financial global crisis, it still is important to find balance and happiness in leisure. It won’t help to feel scared and gloomy all the time. Did you know that it takes just about the same amount of energy to feel happy or sad? And since energy produces waves or some sort of vibration, this energy will somehow find its way to be traveling at the same frequency. So when you’re feeling blue, you attract more negative things. But when you’re happy, you attract more of the good stuff. So which would you prefer? You spend the same amount of energy anyway. So why bother with negativity? I’d rather be hopeful, excited and happy instead! And in terms of leisure, I just need to be conservative with expenses while at the same time enjoying myself. So here’s my schedule so far as well as some money saving tips we can use:
Feb. 7, 2009 – meet up with friends
- Have Dinner with a girlfriend… look for a resto in Shangrila Mall that’s not too expensive. – DONE!
Our gf Ella just recently came back from Qatar. She’s a graphic web designer and is currently on vacation. It was so nice to see her after a looong time! The way we talked, I practically poured my heart out to her. I think the last time we were together was when we went to Lago de Oro to go knee boarding! That was February last year!It has been that long. Anyway, it was so sweet of her to bring us pasalubong — 2 HUGE portraits of me and Peter. She’s such a sweet and thoughtful gal. Love yah, Ella! Let’s go surfing soon!
- Attend Ninette’s Birthday dinner celebration. It’s her birthday so it’s her treat. DONE!
L-R: Anmarie, Ninette (the birthday gal), Me & Ces. Another fun night of drinking & dancing at Embassy Cuisine.
