The Eraserheads After Party (A Late Post)

September 4, 2008

It’s not what you think. I didn’t party with the rest of the Eraserheads band after the concert (I can only wish!) last August 30, 2008. if I only knew they’d be in  Saguijo to play some more music with Ebe Dancel as the singer (info c/o Kai), Peter, Koryn, Helga and I would’ve gone there in a heartbeat. Sigh. Instead, we dropped Helga and her friend Drew off at Metrowalk while Peter and I headed to Timog in QC and met up with Michelle and Riki at Ten 02. It’s the first tme we’ve been there. It plays ska on Saturdays and the crowd was awesome. People basically go there to dance with the beat of ska and simply have fun. No pretenses, no smugness, no charades. Just pure unadulterated gaiety  and wild ska partying until the wee hours of the morning.

We stayed there for a while, give or take one hour. I made sure that Michelle and I got our dose of ska dance moves before finally transfering to Xaymaca which is just a few blocks away fom Ten 02. It’s been so long since we last went there. I miss Brownman Revival so much! Since I started working on night shift,  there has been no more Friday night outs for me. Browman Revival plays there on Fridays, except when they have out of town gigs. I truly miss them. Sigh.

Moving on, it wasn’t such a bad idea to check out Xaymaca on a Saturday night because they played reggae that particular evening! We were so lucky to catch Coffee Break Island, & Milagros Dance Hall. It wasn’t as packed like when Brownman would play so Michelle and I were able to find a spot somewhere in the middle of the bar and danced the rest of the morning hours away to the beat of reggae. Woohoo!!!

At around 3am, we all went home tired but at least satisfied with how our Saturday gimmick turned out. It would have been more awesome if Ely didn’t have an episode which ended the Eraserheads concert unexpectedly. But at least we were able to make the most out of the rest of our evening by turning to ska and reggae instead. ;-) Upcoming on my next post is the Oktoberfest opening.   Watch out for it!
