88DB.com iBlog4 After Party…
April 28, 2008DISCLAIMER: The following will be unpleasant. This blogger has had a bad experience. I might hurt some feelings so if you’re not up for that, I suggest you read elsewhere.
The wonderful i.ph bloggers…
i.ph bloggers went to the isawan after the iblog4 forum… L-R: Ting, Madz, unidentified friend of Liz,Uretz, Liz and Ozy
Of all the blog meet ups, EBs and events I’ve ever attended, this by far was the weakest and most probably, the lamest. I just think that the organizers (88DB.com) could’ve done a much better job. You see, in my opinion, if you’re trying to promote something and you invite bloggers to do so, then you have to make sure that they are treated very, very well and not like a bunch of kindergarten kids who need games in order to socialize and have fun. Oh, the year 2000 called. It wants its parlor games back.
That’s Bim and Fritz of the Man Blog who patiently attended the forum since morning.
That’s me and Kai, my new friend and a fellow i.ph blogger.
And when you say that the party starts at 7pm, then for God’s sake, have everything ready an hour before that! And when I say everything, that includes FOOD and DRINKS. And when you say there’s gonna be food with meal stubs, and the fact that you invited us to come at dinner time, then for crying out loud, serve REAL FOOD. If not, then make it clear that THERE WON’T BE ANY REAL FOOD except 4 pieces of thin chicken fingers for each blogger! God! The last thing you want is a hungry blogger.

Another thought I have on the matter is that the organizers probably got the profile of the bloggers wrong. I mean the reason why a lot of us blog is probably coz we’re more of the introverted type, right? And I am talking about the personal bloggers which a lot of us are as compared to those who want to profit from it. Coz if we were the extroverts and social animals that we are not, then we wouldn’t waste our precious time in front of a computer blogging our lives away. We’d be out there from sun up to sundown, engaging ourselves in other meaningful, fun and social activities. And we’d probably have assistants or stalkers blog our lives away. You get my drift? Simply put, just have us all together in a venue with good food and lots of beer/drinks, then you’d have a bunch of bloggers, happily promoting about your event right away.
Oh, another thing… remember that beer drinking contest you had? I thought it was unfairly judged. I think that one of your contestants, Bim, at the other end of the line won the contest. He finished first! It’s just that the girl at the other end of the line up was so near the mic that she was able to grab it first and announced her answers. I may sound like a sore loser for Bim but it’s not that. It’s not even the prize. It’s about the integrity of the game and playing it fair. Well, what did I expect? I forgot this was the lamest party ever.
The only good thing that came out of it was the fact that I got to spend time with our Man-Blog friends who are fun to be with (thank God for that!), I met Tom and his wonderful wife in person, I realized that it was Mica who was that tall and pretty girl that I saw but never got to talk to, I met Luis and Jonel, I found a new friend in Kai and had some precious bonding moments with Koryn. Other than that, I should’ve just stayed home or went to the beach.
The Lose Your Beer Belly band…awesome!
with Mike Villar, the rising internet star
Koryn and I with Jonel…
Friends Forever!!!!
Anyway, after Ade, Lauren and the rest of their band played that night, Peter and I headed to Bonfacio High Street. I shopped for my 2nd pair of havaianas (I got the slim ones in brown color—Tien, what have you done to me?!), got 1 box of Sonja’s Cup Cakes, and satisfied our craving for the good old Pasta Ala Carlo and Classic Chorizo of Figaro.
The next day, we had lunch at Kenny Rogers at Festival Mall and shopped for more stuff for the house. Got two airconditioning units for the lanai and for the study room, respectively. Western Appliance Center was so generous coz they gave us two free medium-sized desk fans and a Php375 Yellow Cab coupon. Nice! Maybe next time, we’ll get the 40-inch Samsung LCD TV that comes with an entertainment system. It costs almost Php100k but if we get it in cash, it’ll only cost Php70k. Peter wants to get it for our bedroom. So the 21-inch LCD TV will go to the lanai and the 37" LCD TV will stay in the living room. Wow, include the old Philips 29" Flat Screen TV and we will have 4 TVs in all! What are we, a TV show room? Hahaha! Hmmmm…
A healthy plate for me and Solo B for Peter.

As part of the organizing team, I will still give it to the team who made the effort to give you an after party. Thank you for attending and we are so sorry to have not met your expectations we want to improve on the points you have raised for the next event we will be having. Thanks sexy nomad! =)
