Travelogue XXX: Boracay (Un)Holy Week Gimik Series Day 3 (March 22, 2008)

April 12, 2008

Ice Cream Crepe for our appetizer… you want some?

It was our last night in Bora and we wanted to make sure that we’d have loads of fun!!! For all the hassles this holy week vacation caused us, I would say that they were all compensated during our last night. To start it off, we discovered what it was like to shop for fresh seafood at D’Talipapa and to have them cooked at one of the restos. It was crazily awesome! 1 kilo of oysters just cost us P20.00! So we bought loads of oysters for dinner! Then we got a giant octopus for only P180!  Then we got Blue Marlin plus other stuff. All in all, diner just cost us roughly P500 and that was for us four already, inclusive of cooking fees!

Little did we know that we’d end up in one of these tents that night…

We caught some fireworks and fire dances on the way to Plazoleta.

Then there were tons of magnificent parties being thrown left and right, FOR FREE!!! Well, except for the Big Fish event which cost P800 per person, an event that brought Embassy to Boracay. But why would you go there when you’re in Bora?! If you wanted to go to something like Embassy, then  you should’ve just stayed in Manila, right?! But of course, the Caucasian tourists didn’t know that. And being ripped off P800 is nothing compared to the loads of dollars they probably brought for their allowance. Go Big Fish! You earned tons of money again!

Anyway, being a believer of great things that come for free, we totally enjoyed our wild party-hopping.

 Overflowing margaritas and cosmos!

 happy and tipsy couples…

Our first stop was at Plazoleta. It’s an event where the bouncer and guard check you out first before being allowed entrance. Being the gorgeous beings that we were that night, we didn’t have any problems at all. Hahaha! While all the less chi-chi looking folks were left standing outside, trying to take a peek at some of the celebrities who were there. Tsk, tsk, tsk. If I were them, they should’ve just put on some skimpy clothes and make-up, walk confidently past the bouncer and before they know it, they’re already in! My friends and I weren’t even skimpily clothed. I was wearing a very colorful summer dress and it didn’t even show much skin. But I don’t know, for some reason, we were allowed entrance. I guess our auras just exuded beauty and grace, being tipsy and all. Hahaha!

Pretending we’re not yet drunk… Pwede!

There’s another funny story here as told by my sister Abba. Right after we went inside Plazoleta, there was a foreign guy who gestured to shake hands with me, trying to get to know me. But silly me, I didn’t notice at all so I just went on my way and walked towards my friends without even noticing that such a thing happend. Hahaha! Here’s one thing you probably don’t know about me. I never look at the people around me. I mean, I look at the stuff around me, but I never look at people in the eyes. Weird huh? This stemmed from the fact that I grew up during that time when rape was happening everywhere in Marikina. During my elementary years, I studied at St. Scholastica’s Academy of  Marikina. As a defense mechanism against rapists, I learned how to be cautious without looking at people around me. I even learned how to walk in a tomboyish manner so as not to catch the attention of would-be rapists. Weird, huh. Thus, my seemingly apathetic and snobbish  nature. But actually,  once you catch my attention, I easily warm up to the point that I could have a hard time saying no to whatever request you may have. Now, you know… Hehehe.

More free beer at the Marlbo event!

Back to the story… so, knowing that there was a guy out there trying to grab me, I cautiously went inside again (By the way, the reason why I frequently go in and out of Plazoleta  is because our "tambayan" was located outside in one of the Marlboro plastic tents. We just go in to dance and get free margaritas.).  But this time,  the guy was lucky enough to have grabbed me! I was already quite tipsy so I didn’t have the energy to let go. This foreign guy turned out to be a Fil-Am from California. Man, he had such "sticky" hands! He introduced himself and kept saying sweet nothings to my ears… things like "You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve seen tonight… I like the way you dance… I’ve been wanting to talk to you all night… the moment I laid eys on you… blah, blah, blah…"  Of course, I didn’t believe a word he said. I tried saying that I wanna go coz I’m already tipsy but he won’t let me go, stupid jerk! So I brought him to my friends instead. I introduced him to Ninette and planned to leave him with her. But it didn’t work. See? This is why I don’t look at people! Somehow when they catch my attention, they have this notion that they can do whatever they want with me! Grrrrr… Finally, being the "gentleman" that he was, he let me go. And the moment I went out, I ran to Peter and told him what happened. Of course Peter, being the wonderful guy that he is, just laughed it off and claimed how proud he is of me. He said "I don’t blame him for trying…"  Oh my goodness! What’s wrong with you people?!

It was almost 1 am by then and the party was dying down. Then Peter got free "keys" for this other big party sponsored by Marlboro at the other side of the beach. So off we went, dragging our drunken butts all the way to where the great music, party people and overflowing beer were. And before we knew it, it was almost morning and we’re all crazily and happily drunk.
