Happy Birthday to Me! TODAY, Feb 18, is officially my 30th birthday.
Thanks to Isa Alvarez! My Maria dress was perfect!
Celebrating my birthday in advance last Saturday was a blast! However, that day started quite sadly, since my closest friends couldn’t be with me. Mer lives in Cagayan de Oro now, Vina was nursing a fever, Jem is in the U.S., Irene is having a delicate pregnancy and was advised to have a one week complete bed rest, Ninette’s younger sister and Koryn’s younger brother were celebrating their birthday too, Ces and John were having a hectic schedule at work and Anmarie exchanged me for her Tita’s pasalubong who recently came in town from Sulu (hehehe). I was really feeling down almost the entire morning that I couldn’t help but rant to Irene about it. What she said entirely changed my perspective and helped me enjoy that day even more… Thanks so much Ires! Thanks for your words of love and wisdom:
Hi Jen,
Thanks for sharing your innermost feelings with me. I miss those days when we can just open up and confide anything and everything. That’s why I was so excited to go to your party and so disappointed that I could not come. That bday was my highlight of the month. I haven’t been very sociable the past few months and was really looking forward to unwind and party with you.
I always read your blog and I was just thinking about you a few days ago and was telling myself your social network is expanding at such a fast pace I feared I could not keep up with you like I was missing now. It used to be just us girls but at the same time I understand and was happy that you are happy knowing all these new people.
So it came as a surprise to me to know that you still have a soft spot for each of your special friends despite the slew of friends that come in and out of your life.
This makes me love you more. Thanks for appreciating our presence in your life. Thanks for caring so much for us as much as we care for you. Hope we are able to express how much you mean to us and more.
Don’t feel sad Jen because I know for a fact that you are so well loved. I know it must be disappointing but that too shall pass but party called life must go on.
I was wondering all night how much fun you were having as I was laying down stoic on my bed for the 6th day. I was partying with just the cable and some books. Whopppee…hehe
We love you Jen and will always love you. You mean a lot to us!
Smile,
Ires![]()
So… I would like to say that the celebration unexpectedly turned out just the way I wanted it — entertaining, lively, meaningful, relaxed and in the company of really good friends who took the time and effort to come celebrate with me at our home in the South.
To the following people who came, spent quality fun time at the party and were really there for me, I can never thank you enough. You made my 30th birthday celebration perfect and complete… You made my heart melt in a way that it never did before. I cannot describe just how much you guys made me happy that night…
Tita Che and Carlo who arrived earlier than 7pm and went home the next day. I’m just glad they’re back together and decided to come visit me when they could’ve spent "more quality time" alone in each other’s arms
;
Odhe (my "brother" in my former office who came all the way from Bulacan, wow!) and Jana (my "Bora twin" who practically had no idea how to get to our place but managed to show up and stay); Ate Rose who really melted my heart since I know she had a family thing that night and early the next morning but still showed up despite all the hassle it would cause her; and Wits Suzara, looking so handsome that night who came in really early too and stayed til 6:30 am the next day… I’m so touched! (I really think he looks like Luis Manzano/Mark Herras). They were also my early birds that night.
My super girlfriends/BMR princesses — Daena who managed to come all the way from Caloocan, leaving her 3 kids with her Tita; Michelle who took a break from work just to spend time with me; and Joan who bravely drove all the way here for the first time to celebrate my special day). I always love it when they stay overnight for some girl bonding session;
TMB folks who now has a REALLY special place in my heart for being so kind and generous with their time (Bim - I would gladly fall for him romantically if Peter does not exist. He’s so funny, witty and cuddly!; Fritz - this cute, "young looking" lad who sincerely noted how relaxed I looked that night {which I sooo appreciate!Tnx dude!} and oh, he really has such a nice singing voice; Ade - who I always love to grill with my weird questions but I was so touched he came that I spared him that night, hehehe. He’s also a videoke king; Anne - who’s always been so kind & sweet to me. She’s our videoke queen.); and Ella who I thought was already in Qatar and who I was missing a lot! I’m so happy she’s still here!
Peachie (Peter’s dearest best girlfriend) and Ernest (Peachie’s newfound love) who really took the time and effort in commuting all the way here since I know how busy their work schedules can get;
Mark, Dok and Onins (Peter’s bestfriends since their highschool days in the seminary) who really surprised me! To think that they came all the way from QC and Dok’s daughter (our Goddaughter) recently got sick (Thank you, Chi-Chi for letting Dok come and I’m glad to know Blue is ok now).
Jayvee Fernandez & Phoebe who came from another event, gladly came to my party and enjoyed some nail art experience with me and my machine; and Rico & Sasha, Peter’s friends from the blogging community who I officially met for the first time and celebrated with me;
Ting and Richard who came from a Sound Art event in Laguna and still manged to stay for a while. I learned a lot from Richard that night. He’s such a great painter and musician (he’s part of a sound art band called Dalisay).
And to all who texted, called and greeted me a happy birthday, thanks for remembering. I planned for it to be my last birthday hoopla so it really meant a great deal to me that a lot of our fiends still came. Why last? Well… because I was thinking of celebrating it in a more laid back kind of way next time. I think it’s the effect of getting old. My body can no longer keep up with my spirit. Hehehe. But who knows? Aquarians are known for being flighty and impulsive! I might just change my mind, hehehe.
P.S
Ninette and Anmarie surprised me by visiting me just now (2pm). I’m sooooooo touched…. Need I say more? Love you mga mare ko! You didn’t have to but I’m glad you did, Mwah!
Thanks for having us over! it was a wonderful party. Too bad we had to leave early (yeah, 4 am is early). Happy Birthday!
