Remember when I mentioned Yabang Pinoy in my Maria blog post? They had a booth set up in the Pinoy Kalye event held last Saturday at Cubao Expo and I got invited by Maricris to check it out. This was spearheaded by the Ateneo School of Social Sciences and participated by the entrepreneurial and civic-minded youth of today like WeeWillDoodle,
Together with my hubby Peter and my girlfriends Ninette and Anmarie, we visited the event just to see what’s “cookin’”. It’s been so long since I last went to this part of Cubao (I used to traverse this area back in college which is like what, 10 years ago? Hahaha!) and to my amazement, the “kalye” so to speak was lined up with shops and boutiques of all sorts. Aside from the sea of shoe stores, there’s also this very red and romantic place called My Breathing Space. It sells freshly brewed coffee at P50 per cup plus all sorts of trinkets, souvenirs and what-nots.There were also tons of eye-catching nude paintings. I particularly liked that of Tetchie
Agbayani which was taken around 1983 in her full “bossomy” glory. I didn’t buy it even if I wanted to. Anyway, I have tons of similar paintings of myself, digital version, taken by Peter years ago. Hehehe. What we did buy was a book by the owner himself, Gener P. Valerio naturally entitled My Breathing Space… a book of inspirational anecdotes full of wisdom and style.
