Although I would gladly prefer to just stay at home and be amazed at the fact that I never get bored despite my friends' warning (go figure), there were also times when I did get out and spend some time with friends this Holiday season.
"Mukha ba kaming mag-jowa?" Hehehe!
Take for instance the time when we had our Christmas presentation at work (Dec. 22). Most of my leisure hours were spent with my friend Migs. We had a definite plan if I remember correctly, which was to go see the free Gary V. concert in Eastwood. But as luck would have it, I had some last minute things to do at work that lasted for an hour. So instead of getting out of the office by 5pm, we ended up commuting at around 6pm. Thinking of a faster way to reach Eastwood, we took the MRT and got off at Cubao station so we could hail a cab from there. It's much nearer Eastwood anyway as compared to getting off at Ortigas station. So, we passed by Gateway Mall and I was amazed at how huge and pretty it was.
What a huge Christmas tree! Weeee!
I think Peter and I have only been there once before, almost 2 years ago… I couldn't really remember when exactly. That's how long it has been. Anyway, we tried hailing a cab for several minutes, to no avail. We were both quite hungry by then so we went to Burgoo's and ordered some seafood dish, burger and fries.
Picture muna!
Picture ka jan! Kain na!!!
Halfway through dinner, we were deciding whether to watch a movie instead or still head to Eastwood. According to my friend Irene, the concert won't start until 10pm and it was still 9:30pm then. Hmmm. Anyway, to make the long story short, we didn't catch the movie on time, we went around the mall instead and discovered that they have Mandarin Oriental Suites inside, then tried to hail a again for almost an hour. How unlucky can we get? We were tired and sleepy already. So, we hung out at Coffee Bean instead and destiny happened! We saw Melody (Mig's "ex-ahem") passed by and chatted with her for a bit. Then we ended up hailing a jeepney instead so Migs can go home already and I can get a bus along Edsa.
Mga walang magawa sa loob ng Gateway Mall…
O, taguan muna tayo…
Ang obvious mo naman eh!
Check-in na lang tayo. Hahaha!
I got off at this dark alley in Cubao and I was so scared out of my wits that I can get mugged anytime. But I focused on positive thoughts. And just when I thought I'd miss the last bus, a cab gently parked on the shoulder and I hailed it. In just 5 minutes, I was in Ortigas, meeting up with Peter and getting ready to go home. Whew. What a night! It was fun though. At least I was able to spend time with one of my close friends in the office. Migs, hopefully next time, we get to stick to our plans. Hehehe.
