For the first time in our life as a married couple, we didn't have anything planned this Christmas. Most of the time, we'd go home to my folks like what we did last year. Or at least, we'd go out and have Christmas lunch or dinner somewhere nice. I dunno if it's age, or the fact that it's gonna be leap year next year (meaning, my hormones are starting to go haywire, being a February child, hehehe), or maybe we're just content to stay home and be the real Peter and Jen.
You see, the real US are actually homebodies. You wouldn't really figure it out considering the frequency of our travels and the kinds of gimmicks we do with our friends. But the truth of the matter is, since we were kids, we've always liked to stay home (or that special place where we can be ourselves.). Of course, growing up has been difficult with all the painful stuff we had to go through (parents fighting all the time, puberty, suicide attempts, death of a loved one, financial problems, poverty, etc.) and so the home that we've considered for the past 5 years has been US (me and Peter). Wherever we go, as long as we're together, that's where our home is. Thus, the many and varied activities we do outside the house. We did rent a nice cozy apartment in QC during that time where even our friends considered it their 2nd home. But this year, we are happy to say that our home has finally come to rest in one place — our beautiful and cozy house in Alabang.
We love it so much that we decided to enjoy it to the fullest this Christmas! At first, I thought of inviting my family over. But since my sister will be in Cebu, Mac will be working, Peter was having coughs and colds and my parents, well, for some reason, they kinda stress me out without meaning to, we decided to spend the holidays ALONE in our lovely little home. All we did was spend time in each nook and cranny it has to offer —
1.) …our lanai where our bar and Christmas tree are. We'd hung out here to relax, drink wine and just talk about anything and everything;
2.) …Popsy's bedroom where we watched a bunch of flicks. It's smaller than our bedroom so the aircon gets really, really cold which Peter loves;
3.) …our huge bedroom where we sleep, tinker with the internet, watch DVDs, play games, read, and uh..do other stuff;
4.) …our study room where I enjoy looking at the rest of my collections (books, photos, scarves and shawls, hats, shoes, bags, etc.). This will soon be my office where I will write my masterpieces and do other online businesses;
5.) …our beach-themed balcony where I can sunbathe during the day, enjoy the sunset while sipping iced fruit juice, enjoy the stars and the moon at night while puffing a cig or two and simply enjoy the neighbors' backdrop if not imagine I'm in a beach somewhere;
6.) …our sala where we watch most of our DVD movies. We recently bought a tall wooden chair in La Union which perfectly fits the corner space in front of our 32-inch flat screen TV;
7.) …our dining area where we prepared a simple noche buena and feasted with our only two visitors for Christmas (Tita Che and her youngest son, Gab);
8.) …our air well where our surf board and skim board are aesthetically placed with the Galera Gecko Lamp, white and brown pebbles and green plants; I'd sometimes stay there just to feel the white pebbles brushing against the soles of my feet and it would transport me back to our numerous beach memories;
9.) …our garden at the back where we'd sit on the wooden swing while reading a book or just simply hang out there while enjoying the breeze of the Christmas air;
10.) …and we also enjoyed each of the three bathrooms, hehehe.
I soooo love our house! It's so perfect for my upcoming one year "retirement" from the outside corporate/political world. After which, I may decide to become a full time housewife or pursue something else that I am also passionate about.
Now, for this lazy vacay to become a real hibernation, what better way is there than to watch tons of movies while pigging out on leftovers from the Noche Buena?!
I've always wanted to be one when I was much younger. I think I was…in my own funky way. Even though we were poor, I still managed to be fashionable while at the same time maintaining high grades in school and winning Miss Popularity contests so to speak.
My gosh! Not only is this flick star-studded, but it's just too out of this world! I couldn't really understand some of its stories but it somehow made sense. Weird… It's so alternative! Watch it!
OH MY GOD!!!! Tom Welling is getting more good looking every season. Plus super girl is now here. Awesome!
Grey's Anatomy Season 3 (Episodes 1-17)
As usual, the drama has gotten my shirt wet with tears again… And I liked the fact that they're now residents with cute little interns of their own who they torture all the time. Talk about pay back time! Mwehehehe.
What can I say. They are indeed super baaaadddd!!!
Love and ultimate sacrifice, plus great effects and great plot. Nice!
Ho hum… I'm not so much of a Bond fan but I guess it was okay for me.
Gross!!!! I'm glad nothing of this sort happens in real life.
It's like the magcal version of Macaulay Culkin's My Girl in the 90's… yeah, I cried buckets too.
Hmmmm…twas ok.
I seldom watch cartoons but thanks to Peter, he gave me a whole new perspective about it. Doctor Strange is one cool character after all.
Funny!!! And Witty!
I haven't read Nancy Drew in my childhood and I'm not about to start now. This movie is ok too, I guess.
This is not your usual Jacky Chan movie. It's plot is intertwined in the present and the past. It has an epic theme but with modern touches. I was surprised I liked it!
It's a normal cheesy chick-flick.
Uhm… it was fun watching the action part.
Alex Rider, Operation Stormbreaker
Nice action sequence too!
Funny!!! And what amazing, erotic, kama sutra scenes!!! Woohoo!!!
How I Met Your Mother Seasons 1 & 2
OH MY GOD!!!! This is the new FRIENDS!!! I swear, they're even much better! My tummy and throat hurt from laughing too much!!! I love you "Doogie Howser"! You are the best ever!!!!
Yeah… it was heart-breaking in a funny sort of way.
Dear Jen,
this is nice to know (and read)!
i hope to get to a place like that too — something that will make me *settle down*.
am still *going around* a lot, treating every place my *home* no matter how transitory each one is.
anyway, good luck on your *new life* ha. i remember how you interviewed the summit ladies and how you liked how they are doing something they are passionate about.
soon, ikaw naman ang kukulitin ng isang corporate chick about your wonderful *career*.
CHEERS! May the coming year be better for you and your loved ones.
always,
TiEN
Hi Boobie! You know what they say about home being where your heart is? I never knew how true that meant until you became my home. I love you always Jen. I go now before I get too mushy. *smooches* oops. Too late.
