Prologue:
Thanks to our cheap finds. If before, our backyard looked like this:
Now, it’s this:

One weekend (I think it was the one before our Bora getaway), Peter and I thought of going back to Tagaytay to finally buy stuff for our backyard-turned-mini garden haven. We again looked at the native ornaments sold at Olivarez Plaza and bought some pieces we liked before we headed farther south.
Long before we thought of renovating our backyard, I’ve always wanted a wooden swing where we can just hang out, relax, read a book or something. We saw one in Festival Mall 2 months ago but it cost around P18k and the wood wasn’t even that good! Darn it.
So having that in mind, we resolved to look for some wooden garden furniture that will scream "buy me! buy me!". You know that feeling, when you see something you really like? We were looking for that as we scrounged the stretch of the road, looking for shops selling wooden furniture. Finally, we passed by a small factory, unlike the others we passed by that make and sell LOTS of garden chairs and tables. This one had a different feel to it and the maker/seller was very approachable and generous. We finally saw a couple of pieces we liked. But since we’re working n a budget, we settled for a swing and a long bench. If we buy these furniture somewhere else, it would’ve cost us around P25k or more. But with Rod (the maker/seller), we got both for only P13k plus a delivery fee of P800. Perfect! Sooooo perfect!
Happy with our purchases, hunger settled in. We passed by a restaurant that we haven’t tried yet. It’s positioned at the edge of a cliff where the wind was blowing its strongest…. TAALENA. Up close, it looks pretty nice and cozy. The menu was all-Filipino and the ambiance was wonderful. From afar, it would seem like a huge rundown house. But looking closely, it’s sort of like a mansion-turned-banquet hall.
