Travelogue XXVII: December 2007 Vacay in Boracay Day 1

December 8, 2007

So far, this vacation of ours is the most relaxing and refreshing of all. Not that the other vacations we’ve had at this wonderful piece of paradise are not. It’s just that our itinerary wasn’t so full of activities as compared to the other vacays we’ve had which you will realize once I post my 2005 Bora entry.  Compare it also with our 2006 and 2004 Bora getaways. Our flight was last Nov. 30 at 8:40 a.m. Cebu Pacific was right on time. The only surprising thing was that they made us wait a few more minutes for this one passenger who was running pretty late. I never knew that was allowed. To think we’ve been in the airport since 6am that morning. Bah!

The flight went smoothly and after an hour, we landed in Kalibo. I got pretty worried coz it was cloudy and drizzling a bit. But I kept crossing my fingers and hoped that the weather will be nice in Bora.

While we were getting our bags at the arrival area of Kalibo Airport, one of the porters approached me and offered me a ride to Caticlan. I immediately said ok so we can reach the resort by lunch time. The van ride cost P175 each. If boat ride is included, it would cost P200 per person. I was hoping to hire a special boat all the way to Panoly which we always do every time. It would just cost us P600 max for the whole special trip. Apparently, starting this year, the rules have changed and we were in for a surprise.

The pavilion at Cagban Port. The men in blue were the multicab drivers.

Hiring of special boats are no longer  allowed. But we still tried our luck. The van driver helped us get some sort of a colorum boat. Unfortunately, it would cost us P2000. No way, man! That’s way too expensive! So off we lined up for the ecology fee (P50.00), terminal fee (P20.00) and ferry boat tickets to Cagban Port (P19.50). No, ferry boats no longer ply the Caticlan Station 3 & 2 route like last year.  From Cagban Port, I called Panoly if they can pick us up. But it would cost us P600 so we asked around for cheaper rides. You know me, the cheaper, the better. Good thing that we found drivers at the pavilion and we were able to rent a multicab all the way to Panoly which only cost P450. Hehehe. Pewede na. That’s still P150 savings.

We checked in a little past 12 noon. And my golly! What a wonderful room we had!

If before, we only utilized the huts and deluxe rooms in Club Panoly, this time around, we booked the two bedroom suite. O divah, bongga! Asenso na! Hehehe. And my golly, the room was sooo huge and cozy! We even had our own jacuzzi bathtub, dining room, kitchen, pantry and three balconies! Three!!! This is the major reason why we didn’t book any island hopping or water activities.

This is the view from one of ourbalconies… Nice noh?

A little bubble bath for my hubby…

The prince and princess of Club Panoly… for that weekend, at least.

We just basically enjoyed our suite, frolicked in the swimming pool, enjoyed their newly built Cafe Havana and Voodoo Bar, basked in the sun along its wide white sand beach, and got wasted at Station 1&2 at night. This is THE life!!!

It seemed like we were the only visiting members of Panoly that weekend. Peter, being the way that he is, tried to get me naked while in the jacuzzi! *naughty…naughty*

This is a view of Panoly’s pool from the Voodoo Bar’s terrace…

It was quite wavy that time and we caught these perfect sunset shots along with the whitewater …

They were quite surfable actually. If only we brought Didi (our surfboard) and our skimboard with us
