Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been entrepreneurial. I’d sell all sorts of stuff like stationery, my drawings, bookmarks I got from my grandfather who worked for the Department of Education, old clothes, shoes, bags, even pastries and other goods. Too bad I wasn’t able to professionally practice this talent of mine since I ended up taking Psychology in college. But I guess the quote “never say never” can be applied here. See, even now that I have an 8-5 desk job (which I am considering leaving some time soon), I still find time to explore this passion of mine. At times, I’d set up garage sales at home just so I can sell my beautiful stuff, both old and new. There was also a point in my life when I explored making home-made spa products and sold it to friends, officemates and even online. I even enrolled in U.P. to learn how to make soap. It helped that I got published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer and I got a lot of customers from that. How I wish I can bring that back. But with my hectic work and personal schedule, I barely have the time to again explore my entrepreneurial skills.
However, with the advent of the internet, I’m thinking that maybe, I may still have a chance after all. There are so many sites out there that offer information about online shopping or setting up an online shop. Plus, there are no overhead expenses and start up fees are barely at a minimum. It’s perfect, right? I just have to find the right ecommerce software and start from there. Online, I noticed that Shopping carts are used and it’s just like shopping for real, only this time, customers will do so at the comforts of their own home. Isn’t that terrific? I just need to find the perfect Shopping cart software for this type of endeavor. Who knows? I might just make my dream of working from home come true.! Hopefully, this materializes very soon.
