What the F is Going On?

October 19, 2007

I was busily working in the office when I heard the news that there was a bomb explosion over at Glorietta. Actually, when I first heard it, it went something like this: "One of Glorietta 2's ceilings fell down". So I brushed it off, thinking that there was probably some construction going  on, then I went about my usual business. Until text messages started coming in saying that 3 were confirmed dead and that there were a lot of people injured.  My mom even called me up to make sure we were ok. My gosh! What the F is going on in this part of the world?

Honestly, I really don't know anymore. I don't read the papers, we have no time to watch TV, I don't even listen to the news. So it's probably a wake up call on my part to at least stop being so apathetic and make time to know the happenings in the Metro and in our country. People are blaming this mess on GMA and asking her to resign once and for all. Of course, if I were her, why would I resign, right?  If I have all the power and the wealth, why would  I just quit? Think about it. What case do we really have against her? Our Police Force can't even figure out what exactly caused the explosion (unless the government is trying to cover up something).  Anyway, you tell me what's up. Coz I have no effing clue.

Kimmy, you’re right. Actually, ALL guards are lenient these days. OMG! What will become of us now? As of this writing, there was another bombing at G4 at a certain seafood resto. I also got a text msg saying that all AYALA Corps. are allegedly being targeted for bombings. So everyone, stay home or at least avoid the malls.

At Sexy Nomad and Kimmy:

I heard it was a fire…but Im not sure though~>_>

Too early too tell..some say it was from a LPG tank…others say from a rebel group…

But regardless of what or who is to be blamed…it’s a wake up call for sure…please stop the political mayhem and focus on what people need~ that’s all I can say~

Jen, thanks for the concern about this incident. that same night, we were asked to go there again to volunteer and help. but i stayed right where i was coz you said i shouldn’t go muna. now i think it’s gonna be tighter security even at the office. sigh.

What’s funny about our security is how quickly it devolves back to the leniency. A bomb happens, and everyone starts getting very on edge they’d even bring dogs. Give it a couple of months and we’re back to security guards who dips drumsticks and chats with someone while doing their “inspection”. Honestly I could give a few pointers on how to bomb a mall! It does not take a Marilyn vos Savant to figure such out.

This country is in a desperate need of change, and a lot of people are doing their darnedest to stay in their old patterns of bad habits. If this bombing does not teach the security guards lessons about doing their job, then the casualties would’ve been in vain.

Not trying to compare my condominium to Glorietta in terms of importance, but just last Sunday (and this was just two days after the bomb) I came home only to see that the building guards have all fallen asleep.

I was so shocked whne I heard the news too. The victims could’ve been US. My family and I went there 2 days before the bombing. Thanks God we weren’t there when it happened. But my heart still goes out to the poor victims. I am so mad when I heard the news!

Guys, have you read about this email written by a man named Carlo Cruz? He’s been interviewed in the papers, radio as well as TV. Check out Peter’s blog at http://peterjuan.i.ph/blogs/peterjuan/2007/10/24/aftermath/#more-72

We were both crying as we read his story…

I somehow felt detached from the incident until I saw these photos. Glorietta is a mall I used to frequent, so seeing the rubble just overwhelms me.

I saw pictures of people who died from the blast. My God! They were distorted and there was even one whose eyes were still open. I think she died instantly. I almost cried in the office… Who knew that this coming Halloween, they’ll be the ones to be visited at the cemetery… *sniff*
