Am I Ready for Leadership?

April 19, 2007

It’s my first monthsary in the MDP Training Program. I’ve been learning a lot of things about myself, my peers, my bosses, my organization, the society  and the various cultures around in general. Accompanying my learnings are varied emotions as well, ranging from the most positive to the most negative. Maybe I’d dwell on them on another entry. But for now, I just want to share with you some anecdotes taken from the 15th movie clip of The 8th Habit - From Effectiveness to Greatness video collection by FranklinCovey. I hope these words will touch you the way they’ve touched me inside.

~~~oOo~~~
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” - Marcel Proust
How do you see the way?
What matters most to them? To you?
Do you hear the unheard?
Do you see the unseen?
Leaders see the way.
 ”You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” - Mark Twain
How do you see the connections?
Can you see the forest FOR  the trees? Do you see the forest AND  the trees?
When things work together, THINGS WORK.
Leaders see the connections.
“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” -John Muir
How do you see?
You have the power. Remember — so do they.
Release the potential. Realize  the potential. Reward  the potential.
Leaders see others.
“The life is within the seed. ” - Roger Merrill
How do you see yourself?
Where do you get your answers?
Do you do things right?
Do you do the right things?
Leaders see within.
“All serious daring starts from within.
- Eudora Welty
Leaders see the way. Leaders see connections. Leaders see
others. Leaders see within.
Answers belong to the eyes that see them.
 ~~~oOo~~~

Do I have the eyes that see them? Honestly, most of the time, I’m not so sure…
