Travelogue XIII: Boracay For Real Day 2
December 10, 2006 To continue with my story of our Boracay trip last Dec. 2-4…

The following day, we were supposed to wake up early to go island hopping. However, when I woke up around 5am, it was raining quite hard outside with matching lightning and thunder. Bummer! Now what?! Feeling very cozy and cold, I went back to bed and slept until 9am. Haha! So much for promising to spend the next day better. By then, the sky has cleared and we all started getting ready to hit the beach. Peachie and Vina were scheduled to check out at noon so we spent the morning frolicking at the beach and eating a hearty brunch.
We were enjoying our brunch around 11:00 am when the concierge approached us saying that the boat will leave around 11:30 am for those who were scheduled to check out. We were perplexed! We were told upon check-in that the boat will leave at 12:00 noon. Hurriedly, Peachie and Vina finished eating and went back to their room to dress up and finish packing. Naturally, they were late for the 11:30 am trip. They ended up being frowned upon and cursed by the foreign guests and this really got me so mad. Peter and I talked to the front desk telling them that it was not our friends’ fault. They apologized to us and even called Vina on the cellphone to apologize too and explain the situation. They also told us that someone already explained to the foreign guests about what happened and things seemed to have calmed down. Good! Or else I’d really throw a fit if I hadn’t already.

We then bid our two girlfriends goodbye and the four of us left behind went on with our boat trip to Crystal Cave and Friday’s Beach Resort. After 30 mins., we reached Crystal Cave. It looked quite different from last year. There are more stone castles this time and the path ways are more paved and therefore safer. We visited cave 1 and took a lot of FHM-like photo ops. It was funny coz while waiting for the crashing waves (in order to get the perfect shot), some people went down to cave 1 as well and saw us do our photo session. I noticed that some of them started taking pictures of us too. Hahaha! Feeling celebrity!
We then visited cave 2. On our way, we passed by the newly built stone castles and took some pictures as well.

From the top, we saw a beautiful view of the sea and the nearby islands. It was so peacuful. How I wish I could bring that view to our home so I could always look at it whenever I get gloomy. Sigh. Anyway, it was low tide at cave 2 that time and we were able to walk near the mound of crystals without much hassle.

After the tour, we headed back to the main beach, particularly at Friday’s. According to the boatmen, their beach is the most beautiful coz of its ultra white sand, crystal clear water and shallow depth of the sea even meters aways from the beach. It’s perfect most especially to non-swimmers coz theycan swim all they want and as far as they want without fear of drowning.
To make things more perfect, we even saw a lifeguard with a patrol surfboard. I was able to borrow it for a while and did some paddling and mock surfing. Oh, how I miss La Union and its waves at San Juan! (Soon…soon.)
Around 3 pm, we headed back to Club Panoly. We had to catch the 4pm free shuttle going to the main beach. We plan to check out D’Mall and do some partying! But before that., here’s another shot showing off our tattoos.
The drive to the main beach from Club Panoly only took around 5 minutes. We asked the driver to drop us off at D’Mall so we could do some sight-seeing first. Here in Boracay, this is the shopping mecca, a.k.a. THE GREENBELT of Aklan region. And for kikay girls like us, mere window shopping here already feels like heaven for us!
Near the Rotonda, I noticed that they have a wall climbing center. This is something new! It wasn’t there before when we vacayed here last October and December of 2005. Coolness! I’ll definitely try that out when we go back next summer. I should remember to bring my climbing shoes.
On the other hand, we wanted to do some major partying that night, if the weather will permit it. And because we haven’t eaten anything since that morning, we decided to look for a nice and affordable food place first. Then we saw ISLA BAILA, the same restaurant we went to last holloween. Compared to the other restaurants we checked out on the way like The Hobbit House, their price range is more reasonable and the food looks good too. All Pinoy… my favorite!
When the food came, I totally forgot about dieting! Man, the dishes we ordered smelled and tasted so good ! We had different variations of Adobo (pininyahan, spicy & seafood) with steamed okra and kangkong on the side. Plus Peter got chicken curry and cheese sticks too. Yum yum.
Anyway, like I said, D’Mall is THE PLACE TO SHOP here in Boracay. So that’s what we did next. Besides, we needed to burn all those calories we consumed. Ninette and Ate Rose bought some souvenirs. I decided to delay my shopping spree, hoping that I get to find really cheap accessories and stuff later on, coz apparently, here at D’Mall, the prices are already comparable to those sold at the malls in Manila. Some are even more expensive! Darn it!
Come night fall, we found a perfect nook to hang out, drink beer or coffee and simply relax. The place is called JUICE. It looked so funky and so 70’s. They were playing an odd yet infectious mix of island rhythms and house. We soon found ourselves dancing. After a few songs, Ninette caught the attention of one of the owners who gave us some free drinks in the hopes of hooking up with her that night. Hahaha!
After some time, we left Ninette in our nook so the guy could have some opportunity to approach her. It worked! Anyway, while the guy was digging Ninette, I saw these men painting some shirts which they sell for only P250.00.
We went back after Ninette’s new admirer left and danced some more. When we got tired of dancing, we separated ways for a while, promising to meet at the grocery store around 11pm and did some more shopping. Luckily, I was able to find a couple of vendors who sell more affordable accessories. I bought some for my friends at work and some for me, mostly made of puka shells coz these were the ones I was not able to buy last year. Gosh, if you can only see my room back home, it would seem like I have a small tiangge due the my collection of kikay accessories. Hehehe. It’s one of my weaknesses. Even if I don’t get to use them, it’s just so nice to open my closet and look at them.
After a lot of shopping, Peter got hungry and ordered at Bite Club. It was his first time to be ordering such a huge burger and we decided to bring this back to the resort where we will all be having a late dinner in the comfort of our room’s balcony. We decided to rest early so we can still have some energy left for our last day.
