9th Philippine Web Awards

Before I continue with my Boracay travelogue, let me share with you first my extraordinary experience with the Philippine Web Awards held last night at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.

I still can’t believe I won The People’s Choice Award!!!

My hubby Peter told me weeks ago that there’s gonna be an Awards Night for the WEBBYS on Dec. 7 and that I should keep that date open so we could attend it. I just said yes thinking that I’ll be cancelling the last minute. Days passed and I totally forgot all about it until Peter reminded me 2 days ago. I was really contemplating on whether to go or not. Mostly, I didn’t want to go coz I was thinking, what will I do there? I’m no longer in the finals and I know I’d be too tired to stay up too late for it since I have work early the next morning. I AM ALSO A VERY SHY PERSON CONTRARY TO HOW EVERYBODY PERCEIVES ME TO BE.  Anyway, I tried to think of what to wear just in case. I still couldn’t find anything decent in my closet so I said, I’ll just be myself JUST IN CASE I’LL GO. Finally, the night before, I decided to just go straight home and blog. I still have so many entries and pictures to post and I’d need all the free time I can get. So there, I was already settled on NOT GOING for blogging purposes (yes, I’m a blog addict and proud of it, thank you).

Early that fateful morning, I woke up and suddenly changed my mind. I honestly can’t understand why. All of a sudden, I just simply wanted to go. Perhaps, I slept tight the previous night and the rest did me some good. I didn’t feel so tired anymore. Besides, I’ll be with my hubby and I can guard him all night against all female (and male) predators out there. Hehehe.
 

Flustered and happy, I received my award.

After braving a very heavy and long traffic, we finally made it to the venue. We thought the show was already over since we were already more than 2 hours late. Apparently, so were the other participants and guests so we were just in time to see the awarding of different categories. We also witnessed two bands play, DNA Rock from Australia and Helen. Visit peterjuan.i.ph for more info on this one since I was busy enjoying the music and thanking God that I came coz at this point I was unexpectedly having fun already.

So there we were, seated on the third floor, looking down on the stage as the awarding was going on. Finally, it was time for the Blogs category. Peter was kidding me that I MIGHT WIN the PEOPLE’s CHOICE Award. I said no way! I didn’t think a lot of people voted for me since I’m new in this and not really a techie person per se. I just enjoy writing about my life and posting lots of pictures. That was just it. Anyway, he kept quiet and so did I. When the envelope for the People’s Choice Award was being opened, the male host said “WOW” and that’s when I felt my heart skipped a beat and knew that I won. Still, I  thought “wag ako, wag ako, wag ako…”  coz I  didn’t want to go all the way down from the third floor and face  all those people out there. I told you, I’m shy.The moment SEXY NOMAD was mentioned, I immediately stood up, gave Peter all my stuff and dashed downstairs. I got lost for a while and I didn’t know where to go. Finally, when I reached the first floor, Francine Prieto was already calling another winner from a different category. I just sat there, with my heart beating so fast and feeling so lost and  cold. Moments later, they again called out for the Sexy Nomad and that’s when I came up the stage, received my trophy, gawked a bit at the beautiful and sexy Ms. Francine Prieto and said a short speech of thanks, all flustered, excited and happy at the same time. Whew!!! My knees were still shaking as I reached my seat upstairs and showed the trophy to my very proud hubby.

Then the show was over. People were milling around. I told Peter, this is the worst part for me — mingling with people and overcoming my shyness. But I think I did a pretty good job. I thanked the people who congratulated me. I met Doug, Ederic and Angelo and said hi to some other people. It wasn’t so bad after all.

Coming home, I was really glad I attended the Philippine Web Awards. Coz just imagine if I didn’t… Sexy Nomad would be called and my huge, fat hubby will come up the stage to receive the award for me. Wouldn’t that be so funny? Hahaha!
