Our First Day in Boracay…

December 1, 2006

…was spent in Manila. Seriously! Sigh…  All Cebu Pacific morning flights were cancelled due to typhoon Reming. We only found out when we were on our way to fetch Peachie from her house. Ate Rose told us the news and I immediately texted the girls to call Cebu Pacific Reservations Office (7020888) to book us on the next soonest available flight. Vina was already at the airport at around 6am and she tried lining up at the reservations booth which took forever to move. Luckily, after around 10-15 minutes of que over the phone I was able to talk to one of their agents and our flights were all rescheduled for tomorrow at 8:50 am.  We picked up Vina at the airport and the four of us decided to spend the day as if we were on a grand vacay.

See how windy it is? That's courtesy of typhoon Reming.

First, we headed to Pancake House in Bluewave along Disodado Macapagal Highway and had a long and hearty breakfast from 7:30 am - 10 am. We noticed that there were quite a lot of customers inside considering that it was a stormy holiday. We presumed that most, if not all of them, were also passengers whose flights got cancelled..

Making faces at Pancake House…

Anyway, we ordered chocolate chip pancakes, peach waffles, fiesta taco salad, spaghetti and chicken with a perfect little taco, vienna sausages, capuccino and brewed coffee. We spent those few hours just talking and laughing while pigging out! It was really fun and liberating!  To heck with dieting. We're on our first day of vacation here! Hehehe!

Afterwards, we headed to Mall of Asia to see if the movie BORAT is showing.  Unfortunately, they don't have it so we ended up shopping impulsively instead! I was just supposed to go see if I could stomach buying super expensive havaianas. Good thing they don't have the style I like or else I would have regretted it! Whoever thought of selling those cheap-looking tsinelas at uber expensive prices is a genius! Unfortunately, I consider those who buy them as brainwashed but not necessarily stupid. (Sorry folks! I'm just not a fan. They're no different from the fake "havanas" I see everywhere in terms of quality. And they only cost 50 bucks per pair as compaired to around 800+ to 1000++ for a pair of  havaianas. It's just not practical for me.)

Vina bought us some cream puffs at Dulcinea. Yumyum!

Anyway, Vina was itching to see Surplus Shop so we went there instead. There were a lot of nice tops and shorts which we could use for our bora trip so we splurged our money there instead. We then went to People are People for Peachie's pair of shades. I ended up buying one as well! Not only that. Their Italian wedge shoes were so chic that I decided to get a pair for only P1199. I was really so happy! It's looks so gypsyish and funky — sooo me!

Aren't my shoes cute and funky?! :-)

Lastly, before we met up with Vangie and watched Borat at Glorietta, I bought another Creative Travel Sound speakers in exchange for my other one that got busted in one of our La Union trips. Yipee! It used to be only P1560 when I bought my first one. Now, it's already P1780. But that's ok. I really liked its quality. It was my fault my first one got busted in the sand.

Meeting up with Vangie (on the left-most side) before going to Glorietta.

Anyway, looking back now that I am about to sleep, I must say this has been quite an awesome day! What a way to spend our supposed first day at Bora. Hahaha! ;-)

PS. Oh, by the way, here's my new Papemelroti bookshelf and my new pink Krizzie guitar. :-)
