Week of Procrastination…

August 17, 2006

I was inspired by one of my blogger friends (Tien) to write about “the art” of procrastination. Here goes…

I know I said that I’ll be busy this week with my paper. I did try really hard to start my term project. But I just couldn’t find the time.  No, really, it’s just so hard to squeeze everything in my very  hectic social calendar (teehee).

Monday, I continued  reading  my textbook. I was  alone at home and the peace and quiet did do me some good. Come late in the evening, Peter arrived and of course, I got totally distracted.  I thought I’ll just continue  studying the next day (yeah, right!).

Come Tuesday,  Peter and I were both so stressed at  work   that we  decided to watch Ant Bully at Megamall.  It seemed like the only fun movie being shown then. The movie was  entertaining  but not as much as I thought it would be.  The good thing that happened was  a free movie ticket was given to us just because we bought 2 movie tickets! We can use it the next time we go see a movie except on the first showing day. That’s the only exception.  Not bad. By the time we got home, I did some more urgent matters and before I realized it,  the clock was ticking 12 midnight and I was ready to hit the sack, which I did. I promised myself I’ll just study the next day (never  quite learned…)

On Wednesday, My Super Ex-Girlfriend was being shown. I was dying to see it so we again watched at Megamall.  To my surprise, the movie turned out great! It was even more fun to watch than Superman to tell you honestly. Its plot was tighter, the  effects were fantastic and even the way  G-Girl put off a huge building fire was more realistic.  Peter and I really had fun! We got 1 free ticket (again!) which we plan to use when The Devil Wears Prada is shown next week.  I was psyching myself up to do the paper a little while later. I still had the energy, I was still up for it. However, when we got home,  my body started to ache. I took a shower,  arranged my stuff then BAM! I was already  fast asleep.

Finally, Thursday, I was really contemplating on having  some paper work done.  But of all the days, Jem, my  super girlfriend, took a leave from work and invited me out. I cannot say no because I do miss her too and this was the only time we could spend together.  Besides, I had some errands to do too.  After work, I went to Cebu Pacific at Robinson’s Galleria. I waited forever (3 hours to be exact!) just to have  our Palawan tickets  recheduled from Sept.8-11, 2006 (weather’s still  very wet this time of the year)   to Feb.15-18, 2007 in time for my 29th birthday (Oh God, 29!).  As you can see, this ate up all of my free time before my date with Jem and I wasn’t able to go to the parlor anymore to have my nails done. Darn it. On our way home, I was already thinking of giving her a rain check  since I suddenly felt very sleepy. Haven’t been getting enough zzzzs the last few days and I forgot I was nursing my little tummy illness (bad girl, bad!). But when she called, I just melted and gave in! I took a shower and took forever deciding what to wear.  By 1130pm, we were at Xaymaca, witnessing Session Road’s premier of their MTV for their second album. The band was good, especially the vocalist. Too bad Peter and I only stayed until around 1:45am because we still have work early the next day  ( I still could muster some sense of control after all).  We only met Chavy (the drummer) after the first set. The rest of the time, we were either catching up with Jem or just enjoying Session Road’s music.

And today, Friday, I’m here at work,  trying  to stay awake.  We’ll be going to Zambales tomorrow  early  dawn and I still haven’t packed a single thing. It will again take forever, I’m sure. I might not be able to sleep anymore. I’ll just doze off on the road I guess.

As for my  paper, I plan to cram all that on Monday (a holiday). I’d hate to cut our long weekend short BUT I REALLY HAVE TO. Darn these papers.  Why can’t they be as exciting as my life?! Hay!
